Nguyen receives National Teaching Award
Tony Nguyen, MD, Family Medicine Provider at Osceola Medical Center, was recently awarded the Humanism and Excellence in Teaching award from the University of Minnesota. Out of 350 nominations, only six resident-physicians were acknowledged for their exceptional teaching skills and commitment to compassionate care.

Another way to support local assisted living facilities is by donating. They are always looking for more personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety.
“Personal protective equipment is fantastic,” Wiebenga siad. “It works. It really prevents the spread of the virus.” With medical facilities across the country in need of PPE, supplies have proven diffi cult to acquire. Wiebenga is excited for the new Osceola assisted living location, despite the pandemic diffi culties. “I know that the manager and the owner and the team and this community is really looking forward to being a part of the town of Osceola,” she said. “And you know, this will pass. HealthEast, Fairview and Children’s Hospital of Minnesota. Since 2019, Dr. Nguyen has been a family medicine provider at Osceola Medical Center. As a family medicine physician, he hopes to see patients of all ages including newborns, adolescences and end-oflife care.


“I like to work collaboratively with patients to defi ne their care and leave them knowing more about their health, so they can become health advocates for themselves,” explained Dr. Nguyen when asked about his philosophy of care. “I want to be an open resource for all my patients and a person they can depend on during diffi cult times.”
Dr. Nguyen was selected based on multiple nominations from third-year residents and approved by the Gold Humanism Honor Society. The Golden Humanism Honor Society was founded in 2002 through the support of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Berrie Foundation and an anonymous donor. The Society has more than 160 chap
