THE CROW SHOW 2023

The visual arts tradition continues at The Studio Door with the ninth edition of The Crow Show. The exhibition has become the gallery’s most enduring exhibition, a San Diego Tradition. Artists from across the globe competitively submit artworks. Art Patrons and Crow enthusiasts ask about the works all year long.

Having taken on mythological importance, Crows appear in all parts of the world. In folklore, they may foreshadow tragedy or usher in good news. The reality is a highly intelligent bird capable of social interactions. In recent years, the crow has become a muse to many artists. This annual visual art exhibition seeks to represent the many faces of the Crow in reality and fantasy.

This exhibition catalog showcases the works selected for 2023.

McGhee Director

Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute

Marie McGhee is the Director of Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum Art Institute. The Institute’s mission is “Conservation through Art Education.” In Marie’s role at the museum, she oversees the management of the traveling permanent art collection, the curation of eight or more shows per year in the Art Institute’s two galleries, and the delivery of over 200 art classes. Her goal is to ensure that the Art Institute provides a high quality and readily accessible visual arts experience which helps the community better understand not only the importance of conservation but also the role they can play in it. Marie has almost two decades of experience in leading lifelong learning programs, including oversight of programs at the University of New Mexico’s Division of Continuing Education. In her spare time, Marie enjoys hiking, birding, and photography.
