Playing online games provides a fun and challenging experience. It’s a nice alternative to the daily hassles of our lives. But getting paid to play online games? That would be even better! This is a direct quote from the College of Information Technology Education, Dean Aris. According to Sir Aris, Axie, Pegaxy, and MIR4 are three of the most well-known games where players earn through gaming. As quoted by Sir Joshua De Guzman; these games use NFT or Non-Fungible Token. They are generally built using the same kind of programming as cryptocurrency, like Bitcoin or Ethereum, but that’s where the similarity ends. NFTs are not limited to digital assets like digital pets, audio, or movies that are digitally available on a computer.

According to Sir John Paul Rodrigo, it is important to also know the use of Blockchain. He quoted that a Blockchain is a collection of data and an example of this is the NFT, which is a cryptocurrency and is managed by the uncentralized database of companies like Binance. Players of the aforementioned games earn their money through points and with these points; they will convert it to cash. They earn these points through how long they play the following games.

Non-fungible tokens are cryptocurrencies that can be used to spend in real life, like actual money. There is the recent news of an Indonesian artist that only took selfies and earned thousands of dollars, just by posting them on opensea. io.

OpenSea is a decentralized marketplace that allows users to buy and sell non-fungible tokens. Founded in 2017, the NFT exchange initially began as a market for CryptoKitties but has expanded beyond collectibles. It’s currently a marketplace for a wide variety of digital assets, including art, domain names, game items, and music.

According to Dean Aris, he mentioned that gaming is a marketing instrument intended to grab the attention of high school students, obviously to persuade them to enroll in UPang eventually. To achieve that, the content of the lessons should be connected to their interests, and hence, gaming is a no-brainer since it is very popular among kids these days. That's the real reason. He also mentioned that most kids these days are into gaming, either via PC or mobile devices and it wasn't a long ago when people were so caught up in the Pokemon Go craze, then Mobile Legends. Recently, there's PUBG and Wild Rift.

But lately, the integration of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) in some popular games gives gamers the chance to not only enjoy playing games but also to earn money in the process. It brought gaming to a whole new level and to many kids who are looking for a side hustle; it is truly an enticing option.

The best advice for students will still be to earn their degree and find real jobs or start their business ventures. What students are experiencing from NFT gaming right now could be merely a trend and it might be just temporary. So the university is making the students aware of the gainful opportunities from NFT gaming. There is no substitute for education.
