“Despite of all the ‘doom and gloom’, uncertainty, frustration and general concern currently being experienced due to the Covid 19 crisis, it is extremely encouraging to see how many companies have taken the time and trouble to submit their entries for the National Flooring Innovation Awards 2020,” said Chris Moffat of SMG who was chairman of this year’s judging panel.

“The continued high standard of entries only goes to prove how much the Awards are valued within the various sectors of the carpet and flooring industry and this really should be recognised and applauded in my view,” he said.

The National Flooring Innovation Awards scheme sets out to identify products and services that are genuinely new and exceptional in the sector. The award scheme’s star certificates and trophies have now become a highly coveted accolade which is widely recognised across the industry and adds kudos to a company’s winning product and its marketing for the year ahead. The awards scheme organiser Bridgette Kelly commented: “There has been nothing easy about any of 2020 so we’ve been doubly impressed by the number and quallity of entries to the Awards Scheme this year. “The trade could have just hunkered down and hoped for the best this year but it’s clear that flooring people are pushing for better than that and these winners are a credit to the industry,” she added. This year there were nearly 90 submissions to the award scheme with 34 shortlisted entries receiving an Innovation Star. The independent panel of expert judges are now selecting the Innovation Gold in each category – the best of the best – to receive the ultimate award which will be announced next month.
