House aims to be prolific, focused—Barbers
n By MARICEL V. CRUZ
THE House of Representatives under the leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez will continue to be a prolific in terms of its primary task of legislation for the entire 19th Congress.

Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert
Ace Barbers, chairman of the House
Committee on Dangerous Drugs, said Romualdez had already set the tone during the First Regular Session with its high output of processed and approved measures. “The measures the House approved during the First Regular Session have both quality and quantity. Quality, because the chamber passed 33 out of the 42 priority bills of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. as listed by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC); and quantity, because the chamber was able to process 30 measures per session day, and this was 10 percent more than what the previous Congress did,” sai Barbers, a stalwart of the Nacionalista Party.

Diesel leads oil price hike at P1.50/liter
n By ALENA MAE S. FLORES
OIL firms are poised to implement a price hike next week, according to Unioil Petroleum Philippines.
Diesel prices may rise by P1.30 to P1.50 per liter while gasoline may go up by P1.10 to P1.30 per liter.
The forecasted oil price hike will wipe out the price cut implemented by the oil firms on June 6.
Oil companies earlier implemented a per liter decrease of P0.60 per liter for gasoline and kerosene and P0.30 per liter for diesel.
These price adjustments resulted in a year-to-date net decrease for diesel at P5.35 per liter and kerosene at P7.35 per liter.
Gasoline, on the other hand, has a net increase of P5.50 per liter.
