7, 1936 – November 25, 2022

I’d like to celebrate and remember the long, beautiful life of Medford Landings affectionately titled "Mayor" Marie Monti. Born April 7th, 1936 - November 25, 2022.

Marie was a “Firecracker” of a women described by family and friends as full of personality, smiles, and wit. A Social Butterfly or Dragonfly depending on the day. She was so smart, and nobody could do sarcasm with a smile like Marie. She was never seen without her blush on and enjoyed having her hair done. As a young woman she was proud to be a line worker and earned a living with Whitman packaging making makeup bundles. She loved long strolls outside in her apartment complex looking at the flowers in the garden and regularly checked in on her neighbors when she wasn't busy cooking for herself and family. She was a collector of jewelry, porcelain dolls and various knickknacks. Marie enjoyed music and dancing at family parties as well as watching dancing shows on TV. What she loved more than anything was quality time with her children, grandkids and great-grandkids. She would play dominoes or board games with them or watch them draw with chalk on the sidewalk. I will never forget her laugh; it was infectious.
She is survived by her four children. Her youngest she called her "Baby" Angel Corelli who has been her full-time caregiver in her senior years and devoted all her time and her whole heart into making her mother’s life a full, active and vibrant one. Angel knew her mom cherished her independence and freedom which she honored, and it reflected in the way Angel cared for her mother. Angel was by Marie's side round the clock, even choosing to live with her 24hrs a day for the last 2 weeks of her life in hospice care, so she was never alone. Their bond was exceptional and one that most mothers and daughters could only hope to have. Marie is also survived by her three other daughters who share their mother’s beauty, stubborn nature, and resilient strength. Their love for her will live on eternally. [EldestYoungest Linda Monti-Wagner, Diane Mazzerelli and Christine Monti]. As well as Predeceased by her son [Michael Monti Sr.]
She took so much pride in the way her 10 Adult grandchildren grew up into capable loving people. [Kevin, Robby, Mark, Richard, Jessica, Tiffany, Michael, *Christa, Angela, Alyssa.] She would carry their pictures in her wallet to show

Walter Hazlitt retired Brookhaven Town Committee Chairman, beloved husband of the late Elizabeth, devoted father of Walter & Elizabeth Emerson and cherished grandfather of four, passed away this week.
During his career in public service, Chairman Hazlitt served 62 years as a retired member of the Stony Brook Fire Department and since 1999 served as a Commissioner.
Chairman Hazlitt also served as a member of the Suffolk County Legislature and tell anyone who'd listen about them. Marie also had an abundance of love for her sonin-law Thomas as he supported Angel in every step as she cared for her mother. He truly loved Marie like a 2nd mom and will miss her deeply. Marie was warm and welcoming and built relationships with the spouses and close friends of her grandkids that came to visit her and cared for her at events. She became so close to them she considered them her bonus grandkids. Nothing brought and helped advance the industry recognized services provided by the Suffolk County Water Authority. more joy to Marie than being a Great Grandma to her 9 Great Grandkids. [Maurisa, Angel, Sophia, Jackson, Bobby, Jovanna, Zachary, Lucas, and Nelly.] Marie loved Scratchers, Italian Dinners, and Frank Sinatra. Her favorite song was “My Way”. One thing is for sure, Marie was fierce and strong and she finished her days out “HER WAY!” surrounded by love and holding her daughter Angel's hand as she passed on to heaven peacefully where she was greeted by all her angels at the Gates of Heaven.
