[New] National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
victories. As a result we all came home very differently than those that served in the World Wars. While they not only came home as heroes, they also came home in very large numbers together, usually transported by ships. Those of us from the Korean War came home by airplanes in very small numbers. The war was often referred to as a police action so we just came home and were forgotten. Those coming home from Vietnam also came home in small numbers.

In 1994, the Congress designated December 7 of each year as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The joint resolution was signed by President Bill Clinton on August 23, 1994. On November 29, Clinton issued a proclamation declaring December 7, 1994, the first National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
Unfortunately, that war was just about the last one we ended with a victory. The Korean War, the Vietnam War and the Afghanistan War, our troops simply packed up and came home without any signing of the end to the war or
Unfortunately, the public was against us entering the war and did not realize the fact that if our troops refused to go to war they would be put in jail, so they were often spit on when they came back home. They like the Korean veterans were not acknowledged as veterans by the public. However, since those of you that served in the Afghanistan War are recognized for defending our country after 9/11, you are not only acknowledged for your service, but now so are the rest of us recognized as veterans that served our county. So we thank you guys, our brothers, not only for what you did accomplish, but for helping us get recognized with you.
