cattered across the countryside, you’re just as likely to notice a barn as you are a house while driving down the highway to your next destination. Just like livestock, barns come in different colors, shapes and sizes. The barns are often the centerpiece of the “home place” and often times, they out last other structures around them. That is true for the barn at Bennett Shorthorns, near Durand, Illinois. This barn, originally a milking barn built in 1846, survived even when the original house burned down during the Depression.
