KIT PARTING THOUGHTS
The sunshine that streams in through the skylights on the tri-level Dennis Naas Commons at the Birmingham Campus is at its most brilliant from the top floor
Since the completion of the first and second floors, these skylights have channeled the outside elements to fulfill a space that is the literal and figurative heart of the campus
The completion of the Designing for the Difference Capital Campaign was realized in phases, and while most of the project came to life in the Spring of 2017, the second phase was delayed and was most recently unveiled at the start of the 2022/23 academic year with the special ribbon-cutting ceremony of Sara’s Room and the Learning Center

Central to this transformation was the incomparable generosity and leadership of Laura and Pete Karmanos Their pacesetting contribution to Phase I, and Laura’s steadfast guidance as Co-Chair of Phase II, provided the foundation for the preferred future we only imagined at the advent of this meaningful effort
Laura once noted, “Everything we do for gifted children stems from our belief that their gifts should be supported The Designing for the Difference campaign helps fulfill that promise ”
