Alonzo
Reid

 by
Andy
Peloquin

Called
"Mr.
Quietstorm
of
Southern
Soul",
Alonzo
Reid
is
a
name
that
will
soon
become
 a
household
name
among
lovers
of
that
good
ol'
soul
music.

The
smooth,
dulcet
tones
of
Alonzo
Reid's
tenor
are
a
pleasure
to
the
ears,
and
his
 music
is
dynamic
and
up‐tempo.
He
is
considered
one
of
the
top
sexist
soul
singers
of
 this
day
and
age,
and
his
songs
like
"Wanna
Make
Love
2
U"
and
"Hooked
On
Your
Love"
 slide
gently
into
your
ears
as
the
soulful
singer
croons
his
way
into
your
heart!
 Born
and
raised
in
the
Alabama
city
of
Montgomery,
he
started
his
musical
education
on
 the
drums
at
the
age
of
6.
Inspired
to
play
by
his
mother,
the
young
Alonzo
Reid
was
 taught
music
by
Gospel
greats
like
Pittsburgh's
The
Swan
Silvertones
and
the
Brooklyn
 All‐Stars.
He
quickly
found
his
place
in
the
world
of
music,
playing
in
Montgomery
and
 touring
around
the
country
with
Chicago's
Pilgrim
Jubilees.
 He
played
with
Gospel
greats
like
Dorothy
Northwood,
Aretha
Franklin,
and
The
Soul
 Stirrers,
but
rhythm
and
blues
had
captured
his
heart
by
the
end
of
the
90s.
He
was
 soon
drumming
for
Marvin
 Sease,
and
has
played
with
 Mel
Waiters
and
Bobby
 Womack
for
years.
 Now,
Reid
is
stepping
out
into
 his
own
limelight,
launching
 his
first
album
in
2011
‐‐
titled
 "Undercover
Freak".
Two
of
 his
hit
singles
are
circulating
 around
the
world,
and
they
 are
making
him
a
man
to
 listen
to!
The
soulful
artist
has
 opened
for
The
Manhattans,
 Ray
Goodman
&
Brown,
Bobby
Womack,
and
Gladys
Knight,
and
his
voice
has
the
ladies
 swooning!
Once
you've
seen
the
smooth
artist
crooning
his
X‐rated
songs
in
his
silken
 voice,
you
too
will
be
a
fan
for
life!
