205 E Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78205 The Sheraton Gunther Hotel happens to have one the darkest histories of all the haunted locales in the city. However, one would not guess this at first glace. The place is well lit, inviting to guests with a friendly staff, and no signs of anything creepy around. Or are there? In the basement, if you look around correctly, you will notice a shelf containing the artifacts of a crime that was committed within the hotel involving a man and the murder of a woman. The woman was said to have been dismembered by the man on one of the floors and her ghost is said to haunt the hall where she died. Yet, if asked about the story, hotel attendants seem less than excited to divulge the information, stating they “stand by the belief that we are not a haunted hotel.”

Emily Morgan Hotel 705 E Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78205 Not all hotels are ready to embrace their haunted disposition, which is what one encounters at the Emily Morgan. Attempting any type of dialogue regarding hotel hauntings at the Emily Morgan might prove a little more difficult, since most employees prefer to not discuss the matter. It is not uncommon for hospitals to be associated with ghosts, so it would make sense that a hospital (or a medical arts facility) turned hotel would have a couple of spooks. Take for instance the 14th floor. The elevator doors to that floor will open and close for no reason, scaring patrons. This happens because the doors used to open and close all the time to let doctors onto the elevators with patients. It is also said you can still pick up the frequencies for the hospital radios, if you can tune in. This would be logical, aside from the fact that their radios have not broadcasted for years.

Corner of Shane Road and Villamain Road, San Antonio, TX 78288 According to legend, during the 1930’s or 1940’s, a school bus drove across a railroad track intersection in San Antonio, stalled, and was hit by a train, instantly killing the bus driver and the ten children on board. To this day, it is said that the ghosts of the kids can be seen and felt around the train track intersection, a common statement that has made this story one of the most popular urban legends within San Antonio. Most authorities in law enforcement and journalism alike have tested these stories and proven, for the most part, that the story of the haunted train tracks is nothing more than a misconstrued myth, but that doesn’t stop people gathering to test it for themselves.

Lady Bridge

Applewhite Rd, San Antonio, TX 78264 Among the urban legends of San Antonio, the “Donkey Lady Bridge” seems to be the most frightening. A mix of statements regarding alleged ‘encounters’ with the Donkey Lady that all seem to share common characteristics leave listeners with an eerie feeling. The more common myth requires individuals to drive out to Elm Creek and park on the Donkey Lady Bridge and wait for something frightening to happen.

headless nun Christus Santa Rosa Hospital 333 N Santa Rosa St, San Antonio, TX 78207 Being a hospital, it’s no surprise that Christus Santa Rosa’s downtown location is chock full of rumors and potential ‘sightings’ regarding the paranormal. Their most popular story tells of the ‘Headless Nun’ that people seem to commonly identify as a literal headless nun that roams the hospital on various floors.

204 Alamo Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205 Embracing the hype about the hauntings, the Menger has advertises itself as a haunted hotel and become accustomed to providing patrons with a free guide to famous ghost stories. The main man with the answers, Eddie Castoreno, worked as a lobby attendant and has a storybook full of ghost stories to tell. According to both Eddie and another lobby attendant, Elia De La Rosa, there are approximately 37 ghosts haunting the Menger Hotel.
