The Dinwiddie County Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department would like to invite everyone out to the 4th annual, Dinwiddie County Fair at the Virginia Motorsports Park on September 4th through September 8th, 2013. We had our best year yet in 2012, despite some heavy rain on the weekend nights. Nearly 12,000 people attended the fair last year, which was a new record. In 2013, things should get even better. Because of great attendance the fair has even extended one day this year. We have all of same old attractions, plus a new

music lineup, a family circus, new food vendors, and an expanded 4H and Extension Office exhibit. You will continue to see free attractions such as live music, fireworks on certain nights, racing exhibitions on certain nights, pig racing, dock diving dogs, a petting zoo, and RC racing cars. For an extra cost, Jolly Shows Midway returns with 26 carnival rides, 8 games, and concessions trailers. There will be camel rides, train rides, monster truck rides, and bounce house type attractions as well. Parks, Recreation & Tourism would like to extend
our thanks to the Board of Supervisors, the County Administration, and all of our sponsors for their support and for believing in what the Fair has become and the expectation of a great future. The Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department works extremely hard to provide guests with a fun, safe, and affordable Fair experience. Since her ‘launch’ concert into the country music scene in late April of 2013, she has played shows from the Richmond area to NC. She began this journey with the hopes and dreams of being able to entertain and reach people through her music. She since has played various venues and has even experienced the opportunity to be the opening act for Chris Young in June at the Innsbrook After Hours concert series. She is booked to play in Tennessee as well as at a Guinness World Records event in South Africa this fall. She is on the move and continues to seek even more opportunities to take the stage wherever possible. She has definitely stolen the hearts of her fans with her mix of today’s country and a little bit of old rock and roll. In the 4-H Tent, the Dinwiddie 4-H Livestock club the Beef, Beaks, and Bacon will have some of their small show animals on display as well as chickens that were raised through the 4-H Embryology project.
The Equestrian Club Horsekateers will have displays
and horseless activities for youth to participate in.
The Photography club The Sureshots will have a
tractor display set up for you to come take your fair pictures on.
The Teen Leaders Club will have information about summer camp for 2014 and the 4-H South East District Champion Hawkeyes Archery Club will have a mock up range set up to view as well as information on how to join the club.
Our Dinwiddie Extension Food and Safety Specialist will be doing cooking demonstrations throughout the week. Please check in at the Extension Tent for times.
The Dinwiddie Master Gardeners will also be on hand to answer any of your gardening questions and have information on the 2014 Master Gardener Class.
