A FULL FRIDGE
by Hallie Cain
Magnet macaroons my mom gifted me for Christmas
She bought me everything French she saw that year.
Prints I bought from my artist friends.
How do I have so many artist friends?
A Christmas card from my sister,
Signed “Love, Mary, Louise and Shane”
Her boyfriend is new, her dog Louise is not.
A polaroid of my childhood best friend and I
That has magically made the move every year since it was taken.
But will never outlast the friendship.
My cousin’s wedding invite
Designed by my other cousin because they’re basically sisters
Whose date has come and passed.
Photo booth strips of me and my girls
Some at random bars
Many from one of the girls’ weddings.
We smooch in almost every one.
A mini pasta magnet
To match the ones I bought for two friends.
A last-minute trip souvenir from an airport gift shop.
A birthday card from Abby
A “welcome home” card from my aunt
A Halloween card and a five-dollar bill from Gamom She wanted me to make witches hat cookies like we used to,
But has no idea how expensive New York is.
There’s no space left on my fridge
But I’ll make room for you.
