Lacey Linkous & Cade Zook 10.13.12 Love story: Cade and I met in high school when we were both just 15. Yes, we’re high school sweethearts! Cade moved from Florida to Tennessee with his family our sophomore year. We didn’t have classes together that year, but saw each other in the halls every day. I guess this is where you could say opposites attract. He wasn’t really my type in the beginning, but the more I got to know him, I realized he had a good sense humor which made me just fall in love with him. Being tall, dark and handsome didn’t hurt either. Sometimes I like to think he moved here for a reason, for me. We keep each other balanced and grounded, and he loves me unconditionally.

It had been 8 years that Cade and I had been together, but I really didn’t expect for it to happen. It was Christmas 2011, and we were spending time with his family. I was so excited to give everyone their gifts, but I noticed Cade wasn’t being his normal self. I said, “Come on let’s go open gifts!” He took me away from everyone and pretty much started pouring his heart out to me. That’s when I knew it was going to happen. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen! I was so shocked that I couldn’t even say anything. I just cried. Then he says, “So, is that a yes?” Wedding Details: Cade and I were engaged for about 10 months, but I only started planning around 5 months before the wedding. My sister and mother made my day so memorable. I didn’t have to worry about anything because I knew their creativity would make it beautiful. The one thing I couldn’t have lived without was the wedding binder my sister made for me to stay organized. It had checklists to make sure everything was covered. My vision for the wedding was vintage chic. I didn’t pick specific colors; I just wanted everything to be classic and timeless, with mainly ivory, creams, palest pinks and touches of soft yellows. My family and I brought everything together by using our own antiques in addition to a few rented and borrowed items. We also added a ton of candlelight to make it very romantic. Wedding day: The day of the wedding, I was pretty relaxed. I didn’t think I would get emotional, but when it came down to the time I was supposed to walk out, I saw my mother and sister beginning to tear up. I couldn’t help but cry. Of course, seeing my future husband looking at me only made me more shaky.
