Brooke Young & Tyler Govert

Tyler and I met in Knoxville, Tennessee, when my brother Jason Wood came home on leave from the Marine Corps in 2002 and brought Tyler along for a visit. The first night we went out, he gave me a single yellow rose, which eventually led to several RED roses. We married and had our daughter, Alexus, on 10/25/03. Tyler had proposed to me down by the Tennessee River in downtown Knoxville, TN, one summer evening. We moved around a lot, being a military family, living in Swansboro, NC; El Paso, TX; and Knoxville, TN. We decided to renew our vows and have an actual ceremony on 3/16/13 in Georgia. Our wedding colors were black, white, and a hint of fuchsia. The groom organized the table seating chart and ensured everything was the way I wanted on our big day. Something unique we did for our wedding was have our daughter (who was a junior bridesmaid) walk down the aisle after the flower girl as the “ring bearer.” We attached our rings via black ribbon around my fuchsia colored Bible to symbolize that she was as much a part of that special day as we were. Our most memorable moments were the first look outside of Paddy’s Irish Pub. I remember Tyler stating that he did not like tufted wedding dresses, and that is just what I had: I remember him stating that I look absolutely beautiful. Another memorable moment for us was when we were doing our first dance to Kip Moore’s “Hey Pretty Girl,” when towards the middle of the song, we invited our daughter, Alexus, to join us as we danced. I remember her eyes shining bright as a star and the smile on her face was nothing short of pure happiness. All of my wedding professionals were highly intelligent and brought my dream to a reality. I want to thank all my vendors for making it such a wonderful day all around. Finally, my advice to all brides would be to not stress on your wedding day. I didn’t because I knew that the wedding planner, Chantel, was going to put my dream into a reality. That way, I could enjoy the day: stress free...until the walk down the aisle, when I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest.
