The story of Django begins with Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), a former dentist who buys the freedom of a slave, Django (Jamie Foxx) with the intent to train him and make him his deputy bounty hunter. As time goes by their work relationship grows stronger and Dr. Schultz offers to help Django find his wife if he helps him hunt down more “Wanted” criminals. The movie is the best example of “crazy” we could come up with. At times you may want to cover your eyes, cover your ears (their language may catch you off guard and definitely do not let your children see this), but more importantly you’ll laugh. All of this while immersed in a love story. That’s right, a love story. Remember, Django is on a search for his wife who was taken from him. It’s a Tarantino flick so be prepared for copious amounts of coarse language, racial humor (and humor of all sorts for that matter), and blood. Also if you’re one that’s not down for the following: Racial humor, racial slurs, lots of blood, people being killed in front of children, and seeing movies that focus on slavery, this movie may not be for you. This Western, Dixie, Comedic, Love-Story features some of Hollywood’s finest! and some were quite a surprise! Probably the biggest surprise was seeing Jonah Hill in a minor role and I only found out the night before seeing this that Samuel L. Jackson was in this movie. The thing that a lot of critics don’t say but we will (because we’re awesome like that ) is that once you discover Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson) he steals the show for a good portion of the movie. When I say it’s classic Sam Jackson at its best? There’s comedy, a patented Sam Jackson speech, and the yelling? Oh yes, what’s a Sam Jackson feature without him yelling at someone? It’s not a true feature is it? lol Django’s wife Broomhilda was played by Kerry Washington and a very well-played plantation owner named Calvin Candie was played by none other than Leonardo DiCaprio. People have been talking about this movie since its premiere, and if that’s not reason enough to go see it, see it because we suggested it. Solid 9 out of 10.
