Roberta Hudson Strachan has a gift that others do not — she “sees things that others fail to visualize.” What Strachan sees becomes the subject of her art, which is on display at the Tutt and LaSalle branches of the St. Joseph County Library. “I am a visual individual,” she said. “Art and photography have become my eyes.” At 77, the former mental health nurse is creating works of art in various mediums. For the next month her work is available for the community to enjoy. “There are 13 pieces on display,” Strachan said, adding, “two sculptures, one silk screen, two copper etchings, three digital art pieces, three photos that I took last year, and two photos that I took in 2016, )($785(' $ while living in Walnut Grove Mutual Housing in 'DPLHQ 6KLSP 57,67 ³ 6W -RVHSK &RXQW \ /LEUDU\·V 7X DQ ULJKW VWDQG WW E ZLWK IHDWXUHG South Bend.” RI KHU DUWZRUN DUWLVW 5REHUWD UDQFK OLEUDU\ VWDII 6DGLH % RUNRZVNL OHIW + XGVRQ 6WUDFKD Strachan, who turned 77 on Feb. 18, was a half DQG Q PLGGOH LQ IU RQW RI WKH GLVSO time art major at Indiana University South Bend Fine D\ from 2009 until 2015.
