The Middlebury Community School Corporation (MCS) serves three townships in northeastern Elkhart County, Indiana, covering 100 square miles in a beautiful semi-rural environment. The landscape ranges from hilly to gently rolling to flat plains, including woods, rivers, and a couple of small lakes. Quality housing developments and a thriving manufacturing economy have been major factors in the steady growth of the Middlebury school system over the past decades.

MCS thrives in a progressive, yet conservative environment. The influence of the large Amish and Mennonite settlement in the area makes MCS attractive to those seeking to raise a family in a place where traditional values and a sense of community remain very strong. Even though this small community is out of the fast track, it is still conveniently close to major highways, railways, and airports, where residents can have access to nearby urban centers of culture, entertainment, and higher education.

In terms of academics, we have exceptional teaching and learning taking place in all of our classrooms every day. Our Academic, Co-Curricular, and Athletic programs are some of the best in the state of Indiana. Our students spend enormous amounts of hours working in sports, music, science and math to compete with honors across the state. For a school district of our size, we have formidable students when it comes to competition. Because of our staff, programs, students, parents, school community and facilities, our schools draw over 400 students from surrounding school districts. For academic success, we offer International Baccalaureate, AP, ACP and Dual Credit Courses. We have a cohort of Early College students who will have enough college credits to receive an Associates Degree along with their high school diplomas. We have over 100 Career Center students who are also receiving certifications in the fields of welding, graphic design, computer technicians and CNA's. We are changing the way we deliver an education that has to prepare students for future jobs that have not yet been created.

Our Northridge High School has over 760 students who participate in athletics. The 2020-21 school year was full of great achievements by our Raider athletes and coaches, as they faced incredible adversity trying to navigate daily life amid the COVID-19 pandemic. After having their entire 2020 seasons wiped out due to COVID-19, the Northridge spring sports teams returned with great success, combining for three Northern Lakes Conference titles, four sectional titles, and one regional title. NHS won the Northern Lakes Conference boys allsports trophy aided by three championships. The NLC welcomed Mishawaka High School as a new member in 2020-21. The previous school year was the last for Elkhart Memorial High School as a member of the NLC after the merger of the two high schools in Elkhart. The following achievements were the best of Raider sports for the 2020-21 school year: Northridge won NLC titles in boys’ tennis, wrestling, boys track and field, girls swimming and diving, girls’ tennis, and softball. Eric Highley (wrestling), Ray Caples (softball), Aaron Brick (boys track and field) and Austin Christner (girls’ tennis) each won the NLC Coach of the Year honor for their respective sports. Northridge won sectional titles in boys’ cross country, girls’ cross country, wrestling, boys track and field, softball, girls’ tennis, and boys’ golf. The Raiders also claimed regional titles in wrestling and girls’ tennis. After finishing in the top 5 each of the last three years, the Raider girls swimming and diving program secured another notable finish in the state finals, placing 11th overall. In the girls diving state finals, junior diver Kaitlin Simons placed third after finishing fifth the previous year, while classmate Jiselle Miller was one spot behind in fourth. Northridge's wrestling program continued its run of great success, with five straight conference titles, four straight sectional championships, and a second consecutive regional crown. Raider senior Ibrahim Khaoucha recorded a sixth-place finish in the wrestling state finals in the 195-pound weight class. In the boys’ track and field state meet, Raider junior Jack Moore finished sixth in the 3,200-meter run, while senior Carter Bach placed seventh in the discus throw. Raider girls’ basketball head coach Doug Springer was selected as an assistant coach for the Indiana team for the Indiana-Kentucky All-Star Games. Northridge's football coach Tom Wogomon announced his retirement from coaching in January. He was the winningest coach and helped all three championships in the entire program's history. Raider athletic director Dave Harms also retired from his position after the 2020-21 school year after 14 years in the job. Harms led NHS Athletics during its most successful era of competitive success and academic achievement.

Middlebury Community Schools are so very proud to be a part of a community that values and supports the education and success of all of their children. Thank you to all of the Chamber of Commerce members who support our students by sponsoring and attending our academic, athletic, music events, and celebrations. We would also like to thank the Chamber members especially for their support of our schools and our children through their financial generosity.
