Around Michiana
Kathie’s famous Chocolate Brownies

My mom found this recipe in Parade Magazine years ago and has been making them ever since. They were her go-to dish for potlucks and my brother Joel and I were always disappointed if she was taking them to an event we weren’t invited too, because there weren’t going to be any leftovers.
Ingredients: 2 sticks of butter melted 4 squares of baker’s chocolate (unsweetened) - melt with butter 3 large eggs beaten 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 Cups granulated sugar 1 Cup flour 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 Cup walnuts ( Optional)
Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 350. Melt chocolate and butter together in a double boiler. When melted, pour on sugar. Mix until combined. Add vanilla and eggs, mix until combined. Add flour- mix until incorporated. Pour mixture into well greased 9 inch square pan and bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. n
