Having Fun At Any Age

Having Fun at Any Age By Julie Young

Morgan “Having fun now has more of an independent aspect to it than it did when I was a teenager and had a curfew. I enjoy spending time in my apartment, hanging with my friends, and the freedom that comes from college life. As long as you stay true to yourself and where you come from, you can find fun. You don’t have to change to fit in.”

“I usually find fun things to do on social media. I’ve discovered new museum exhibits, art installations, or even nearby scenic cities on friends’ Instagram or Facebook posts. At this age, fun usually involves a few adult beverages and/or spending money, (but) I also find fun in the people I love, whether that is fishing with my boyfriend or singing along to music with my friends.”

“Before I had children and a husband, I found it incredibly fun to be a social butterfly who would go to parties, bars, and bonfires to interact with people everywhere. Now, I prefer my close circle of family and friends. I often tell myself to slow down and savor the small stuff (because) it helps me remember that I am very lucky and have a lot to be thankful for.”

“I used to like going out bar hopping with acquaintances/friends, going to parties and traveling to lots of different places. But now I find that (my idea of fun) has changed considerably…due to age and priority changes. I find that hanging out with family, close friends, reading and watching TV shows/ movies is how I have fun these days.”

“I find fun to be in a spectrum of things from sharing a meal with friends to solo activities like reading about my interests, painting, drawing, or working out. Finding fun has changed over the years due to my changing priorities. I’ve always wanted to be involved with friends, but when I was younger, I liked being out and about at someone’s house or going clubbing. But as I’ve gotten older, I find that I am more comfortable being by myself and don’t like being out at all hours of the night. Now my fun is being with my husband and raising my toddler.”

“When I was a young child, fun was pretty simple, but when I hit my teenage years, I went through a period when I was constantly on the go. By my mid-20s, I realized I was running myself ragged, and that’s when I learned to scale back. Now I realize that being adaptable and finding joy in life is what helps me find fun. (In fact) I find that when you have joy and are adaptable… fun finds you!”

“I find fun performing and playing board games. Performing has been part of my life since I was a kid, but board games have grown on me since opening my business, Hometown Comics & Games. A great friend and friend group brings happiness in any season of life.” a
