Oct. 6, 1933 – Nov. 22, 2014 Ellen Jean Salmons, 81, formerly of Auburn, Indiana passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Rolling Meadows Healthcare Center in LaFontaine. She was born to the late Elmer D. and Luella (Coats) Ross on Oct. 6, 1933 in Fort Wayne. Her husband, Benjamin H. Salmons, preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Robin Haggerty of LaFontaine. Graveside services will be at a later date at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Garrett. John H. Bever, 96, died Nov. 23. He was born May 27, 1918. He was married to Mary Tyner; she survives. He is also survived by four children, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Friends may call 12-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Sept. 2, 1975 – Nov. 17, 2014 David Evans Rigney, 39, LaFontaine, died at 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 17, as a result of an auto accident. He was born Sept. 2, 1975 in Marion, to Thomas Rigney and Judy (Shelton) Teague. David was a 1994 graduate of Southwood High School, attended Ball State University, and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. He married Stephanie Shoemaker in Wabash, on July 13, 1996. He was a policeman for the North Manchester Police Department. He was a member of the LaFontaine Christian Church, and the Wild Turkey Federation. David studied Jujitsu and taught self-defense tactics at the Wabash County YMCA, where he also volunteered. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting deer and turkey, and spending time at Lake Sechrist in North Webster. He enjoyed working with firearms and was a precision shooter. David was a devoted husband, and father, and loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Rigney; two children, Dalayna Rigney and Bryce Rigney; and his brother, Michael (Mandi) Rigney, all of LaFontaine; his father Thomas (Caroline) Rigney, Marion; mother Judy (Roy) Teague, LaFontaine; and uncle and aunt, Maurice & Bonnie Terry, LaFontaine. Funeral services were held Nov. 20, at LaFontaine Christian Church, with Brad Wright officiating. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash. Nell Napier, 70, of Wabash, died at 5:30 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 23, at her home. She was born Sept 1, 1944 in Highhat, Kentucky to Jordan and Laura (Altice) Moore. Nell married James Arthur “Joe” Napier; and he died on Nov. 24, 2010. She worked at United Technologies, in North Manchester, as well as MJV Cleaning Group at Ford Meter Box, retiring in 2010. She was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church. Nell enjoyed gardening, cooking, was a huge NASCAR fan and was a diehard Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. She also enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She is survived by 4 children, Rodney Eckman of Wabash, Donna (Sonny) Guffin of Callahan, Florida, Randy (Millie) Eckman and Richard (LeeAnn) Eckman, both of Wabash; 11 grandchildren, 10 greatgrandchildren, her sister, Evelyn (Bill) Hill of Wabash, and her brother, Frank (Ida) Moore of Akron, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters, and daughter-in-law, Robin Eckman. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 29 at GrandstaffHentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Rick Harrison officiating.
