The South Panola School District is a progressive, growing school district of approximately 4700 students from the southern portion of Panola County and the incorporated areas of Batesville, Pope and Courtland.

The district is comprised of six schools which are fully accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The mission of the South Panola School District is to consistently “provide opportunities for educational excellence.”

This is achieved through numerous curricular and co-curricular offerings of the district. The Arts are emphasized through music and/or visual arts at each grade level. Students are encouraged to participate in athletics, chorus, band, Air Force Jr. ROTC, or the many clubs offered at the secondary level.

South Panola Schools have experienced great success in co-curricular areas by winning three consecutive 5A football championships and by maintaining a continuous national rating.

South Panola Cheer squads received state recognition at every level and the high school squad was ranked nationally. Both baseball and boys’ basketball earned their way to the playoffs this past season.

The academic program of South Panola School District is driven by over 350 certified educators with approximately 10% carrying the distinction of National Board Certification. Over 40% of certified employees have advanced degrees in their areas of expertise.

The district currently meets all requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act and strives to maintain adequate yearly progress as required in all subgroups.

In striving to provide essentials to all students, the district also boasts of a MERIT gifted program at all grade levels complimented by numerous accelerated and advanced placement classes at the secondary level.

All of these efforts and many others are supported by the Foundation for Public Education established by business and community leaders in 2004 to promote education in the district.

In “Providing Opportunities for Educational Excellence,” we promote the education of the whole child by encouraging field trips, social events, and positive interactions with business and community members. Together we are building better schools.
