The Top Two John Evers-Hillstrom Karl

Karl is a fourth-year journalism major, born and raised in Brooklyn. He has many hobbies, none of which are exaggerating his abilities or being facetious. An absolutely dominant athlete, Karl enjoys playing all sports, but his favorites are basketball and soccer. He’s a huge Yankees and Knicks fan, and covers sabermetric baseball for Statliners.com. Although he is widely renowned as the best Super Smash Bros. player in history, he plays many other games as well. Karl listens to all genres of music (except country) and is known to have exceptional taste. It was once quoted in a Rolling Stone article that “nobody has better taste than that kid Karl who goes to New Paltz.”

Melanie Zerah is a second-year journalism major with a knack for typing articles. She is hoping to have a great semester with the rest of the beautiful Oracle staff and create an even more beautiful paper to be distributed to the beautiful masses of SUNY New Paltz. As news editor, she and her three-person band of news thieves plan to make the new section as compelling and readable as possible, as well as interesting to the students of New Paltz going forward in this special gift called life. ONWARD.

John Melissa Kramer

It’s a bird, it’s a plane it’s … well he’s not Superman, but pretty damn close. Russell, a fourth-year journalism major with a music minor, enjoys visiting Metropolis, Gotham, Central City and Star City when he can but most of the time superhero duties keep him in New Paltz. He enjoys jazzing up the nights with his band, Keys to the Moon, playing hockey and video games during the day with the rest of the Justice League and hanging out with his Lois Lane. This legend was born in Brooklyn, NY and continues to grow to this day. He fights for truth, justice and the American way and believes the New York Rangers are the best team to ever have been created in the history of sports teams. Yes, that’s 100 percent correct. If you see him on campus, “holla at ya boi” as he says. He won’t bite.

• Sports • Melissa Kramer is a third-year student majoring in journalism and minoring in communication studies. This is her fourth semester as a member of The New Paltz Oracle staff. When she is not writing, she is listening to music. Her favorite bands include The Black Keys, The Growlers and Tame Impala. The New York Islanders are her favorite sports team. She is extremely grateful for the incredible friends she has made while working for The Oracle and looks forward to what this semester has in store.

Holly Lipka

Holly is a third-year journalism major with an art studio minor. This is her second semester as the news and sports photo editor at The New Paltz Oracle. She originally came to SUNY New Paltz as a photography major but switched to journalism because of her passion for writing and photographing moments in life that make an impact on the world. When she isn’t taking photos for The Oracle, Holly loves to read paranormal fantasy novels, Skype with her fat, lovable cat named Jupiter, and drink excessive amounts of Tim Hortons coffee. Holly strives to become a better photographer with each assignment and is excited to begin this semester.

Stefanie is a fourth-year student pursuing a BFA degree in drawing and painting. She aspires to one day work on a childrens’ book or for an animated film company, creating artwork and collaborating with other talented people. When she’s not working in the studio, you can probably find her painting shoes in her apartment and watching endless episodes of Parks and Rec with her roommate. This is her first semester with The Oracle, and she is very excited to work with a team of motivated individuals and expand her experience in illustration.
