School Visit Guide

The New Art Gallery Walsall is a place for everyone. Bringing art, artists and audiences together. It is an internationally famous world class gallery with a local heart.

What can you do in an art gallery? Look at the artworks, you could try to write a story about a painting, make a plastercine sculpture of a portrait bust, present a weather report about a landscape painting, imagine you’re the person in the picture and tell us your story, guess the volumes of the vessels, design a poster for an exhibition or draw a floral display made from the flower paintings. Then send us a postcard about the best bits of your visit. Lots of different learning styles can be used throughout a visit helping pupils develop confidence. They can build problem solving skills, critical and creative thinking and have discussions that really helps develop their speaking and listening skills through exploring this learning environment. They’ll have a great experience to talk and write about.
