KEEPING WHITNEY ALIVE

Keishia Chun has taken the UK by a storm with her tribute to the late and great Whitney Houston. The incredible 'I'm Every Whitney' act has been in action touring the country since 2017 and really does echo the signature sound of Whitney Houston herself. Keishia has a wealth of experience in the tribute world totalling up to 26 years! This depth of experience really is evident in all of her performances as she owns the stage along with her backing dancers with her renditions of 'I Will Always Love You', 'So Emotional' and of course 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody' along with many more of Whitney's greatest hits!

As an eternal fan of Whitney, and with the power to match her vocals, Kieshia's 26-years of experience enables her to offer a top quality performance for every occasion. Keishia loves to bring on the nostalgia with her iconic sounds of Whitney as everyone is encouraged to get up and sing and dance along which really promotes a fun night to remember!

By night the talented singer is a superstar but by day, she is a hardworking single mum of 4 boys. Juggling motherhood and her full time showbiz life must be a challenge but one that is greatly rewarded. I am sure her boys are incredibly proud of their mum and all that she has achieved!

@ M IT C H E L L W IN N S M U S IC MITCHELL WINN WINS BEST BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST FOR THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING AT THE 2022 SOUTH EAST ENTERTAINMENT AWARD

MITCHELL WINN'S BIG!

Plumber by day and singer/songwriter by night, Mitchell Winn is a 19 year old upcoming superstar from Watford. Mitchell begun his singing career at the age of just 9 years old by winning a singing competition whilst on holiday with 'Love is Easy' by McFly. By age 11, the young singer developed a passion for learning to play the piano with his Grandad and just a couple of years later, wrote his first song 'If You Love Him' where he won a school award for his heart breaking ballad. In 2018, this song then went on to become Mitchell's debut single which featured on many radio stations across the globe. He even rocked the Phoenix FM charts by reaching that Number 1 top spot! Mitchell made his debut TV appearance in 2020 for 'Little Mix The Search' where he made it through the first round of auditions with his cover of 'I Don't Care' by Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber. The up and coming songwriter finds inspiration from many artists including the likes of, Charlie Puth, Stevie Wonder & Lewis Capaldi. When asked how it felt to win the SEEA Breakthrough Artist for the second year running, Mitchell said "I was so glad that the hard work I had put in to my 1st Song of my EP had paid off with a great reaction from my performance on the night! The category was incredibly strong so it meant a lot to come out with my 2nd award from the SEEAs. I’m so excited to be performing at the Youngstars as I’m nominated for 2 awards!"

Mitchell's latest single 'Let You In' is set to be released later this month!

WRITTEN BY REANNA VENN NATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT AWARDS 2022

'Let You In' begins with a Piano intro that has a calming vibe, moving into a pop ballad with a catchy beat. Mitchell tells the narrative of letting someone in after being hurt with great depiction as he puts real emotion into the lyrics he sings. 'Let You In' is the follow up to his recent release of 'Pretty Words' and is just one of the many songs featuring in his upcoming EP along with a range of some upbeat and slow ballads. Mitchell is definitely one to keep an eye on in the new music world! Watch out Lewis Capaldi!

5 MINUTES WITH...

JODIE DOODY AS KYLIE MINOGUE 'ON A NIGHT LIKE THIS' Interviewed by Reanna Venn

You’ve been within the entertainment industry for over 20 years, what inspired you to start focusing your act on Kylie Minogue? I’ve always been a ‘lover’ (Kylie fan) and many times been told I look like her over the years but I didn’t think I could emulate her vocals being a classically trained singer, but I decided recently to give it my best shot and it’s one of the best decisions I made as I’m loving every minute! You started up your Kylie tribute just before the world went into a global lockdown, what was the hardest thing about starting up a new act during this time? The hardest part of starting something new when lockdown happened was not being able to perform in front of a live audience. You never really know how good or bad something is until you’ve performed it properly with an audience eg. learning lyrics and knowing them is completely different to remembering them whilst actually performing and thinking about other things at the same time. Costumes are a big part of Kylie’s act – which costume would you say is your favourite? My favourite Kylie costume has to be the blue and the pink feathers.. it’s so, well, ‘showgirl’ and feminine of course! What is your favourite Kylie song to perform? My absolute favourite song has to be ‘Confide In Me’. It’s a hard song to sing but I love the fact it’s different.. am I allowed to say though that ALL her other songs are a close second Since starting your career, which moments stand out the most? The stand out moments in my career has to be performing as ‘Nancy’ opposite Ron Moody himself as ‘Fagin’ in a stage show of Oliver! and also touring with the National Youth Music Theatre as a principal part (chosen by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber) in a production called ‘Warchild’.

How did it feel to win the SEEA’S ‘Best Tribute Artist’ of 2022? Winning the Best Tribute Award at the SEEA was a big shock!! I was not expecting that , the competition was very tough and as I’ve not been doing my tribute very long, I didn’t think it could be me. I’m still buzzing if I’m honest. It’s given me the biggest confidence boost! Other than Kylie Minogue, are there any other artists that inspire you? This is going to sound funny but it is true, apart from being totally inspired by Kylie, her humble nature, inclusive work and general kindness combined with sexy, empowering and total independence I am hugely inspired by the ‘Rocky’ films, that overall moto of the films that anyone from any back ground can focus, work hard and achieve their dreams with a little faith and love from those around them. I love the idea of that!! If you could be any other tribute artist, who would it be and why? I’d definitely like to be Barbara Streisand. I just love love love her voice and her songs. Do you have any exciting performances coming up? I have lots of exciting things in the pipeline that will be happening this year. The most exciting thing that’s coming real soon is that I’m going to be going into theatres with a live band. I can’t wait for this, it’s the ultimate goal. What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Best advice I think is what my showbiz mum said when I was growing up. She said ‘It’s not just your behaviour on stage that matters but the way you conduct yourself off stage too’. I do try to remember this in life.

THE SEEA 2022 HIGHLIGHTS The SEEA (South East Entertainment Awards) opened the year in true dramatic fashion, with over 50 performers, including vocalists, childrens entertainers, seasoned tribute artistes and dance schools entertaining a sold out audience at the Civic Hall in Grays, Essex. Hosted by James Grant, the event which is modelled on the Brit Awards offered a huge performance platform on its unique state of the art lighting set, whilst also marking its 9th anniversary within the entertainment industry. The show featured plenty of high energy dare devil performances from dance schools including Black Ice Academy, HSD and Spicer Dance Company - whilst the tributes entertained with authentic renditions of classics, with highlighted performances from tributes to Whitney Houston, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams and more!

The director of the National Entertainment Awards, event producer and creator Lee Knell said of the ceremony... "It was an incredible night. We always gain so much enjoyment from watching the talent that appears on the stage and the faces of those that realise that they have won an award for their achievements - but this night was extra special as I feel like the marked the beginning of the end of the struggles entertainers and performers have faced during this extraordinary period of the Covid pandemic. I understand things are not over completely but I do honestly feel that moving forward there is definitely a positive path back to the entertainment industry returning to full strength. We witnessed so many performances and you could just tell that everyone was that extra bit grateful that they got to return to the stage doing something that they loved, whether it be a hobby or on a professional level. There was so much respect and a warmer atmosphere from the audience. It definitely made me feel proud". The National Entertainment Awards returns in May with the NEA Youngstars 2022. NEA MAGAZINE |
