AMILY members and friends of Bashorun Babatunde Odetola gathered at his residence for his first daughter, Temitope’s engagement and wedding. Guests sat under the huge canopies decorated in blue and gold. The groom, Olawale Joshua Takuro, a graduate of Bi-Lingua Secretarial Administration from the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), who dazzled in a black suit, black tie and matching pair of shoes was led in by members of his family. After exchanging pleasantries and ideas on how the event would go, the wedding began with a prayer. The officiating minister, Pastor Emmanuel Babalola, supervised the solemnisation. After the exchange of marital vows, Pastor Babalola, a Senior Special Apostle of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church, declared the lovebirds husband and wife. The cleric congratulated the couple and their parents. He prayed God to protect them. Pastor Babalola enjoined the unmarried on the occasion to take a cue from the couple’s life, noting that it is not good to be alone; that is not the will of God for man. He urged the couple to build their home on Christ and use Him as their foundation. “There would be challenges but know that these challenges would make both of you champions. Temitope, no matter what you possess, your husband is your head, always be submissive to him. Olawale, as the husband, make sure you treat her well,” he said. He also prayed God to give the couple the wisdom to sustain their marriage. After the solemnisation, the couple accompanied by their parents in ash-colour lace

‘He is loving, caring, wonderful’ material cut the three-step cake. With the cutting of the cake ceremony over, the couple went in and changed into their native attires for the engagement. The Takuro’s family members were beautiful to behold. They danced into the arena to perform the rite of entry for the engagement. It was followed by the arrival of the bride in purple lace, gold head gear and veil. She was accompanied by her siblings and friends. She moved around to show appreciation to her parents and her in-laws. When it was time for who the cap fits segment of the ceremony, Temitope took the cap from the Emcee and put it on the head of her lover, sealing it with a kiss.
An elated bride’s father, Bashorun Odetola, a chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Ekiti State, congratulated the couple. Speaking with The Nation, he thanked God. “I thank God for giving me the opportunity to witness this occasion. My advice for them is to make God their foundation; and they would never fail in life because when God says yes, nobody can say no.” The groom’s father, Prince Takuro, urged the couple to always pray together. “Though there were challenges I thank God that we picked today, and here we are. I have known my daughter-in-law for a year and
she has been a nice and obedient girl. She takes instruction even from me and I know she will make a good wife for my son,” he said. “It is a good thing that I am getting married,” the groom told The Nation. “I feel good. We met in 2010 and dated for a year. I am happy she is the one because she is a very nice person; she is a very wonderful person,” Olawale said. The bride, a Computer Science graduate from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, who wore a long cream gown and a pair of shoes, described her husband as “loving, caring and wonderful.”
