MARINATED PEARS By: Malky Tauber Once I tasted these delicious pears from my sister-in-law’s kitchen, they became my favorite dessert. Classy and lighter than most desserts, they are a perfect ending to a meal.

INGREDIENTS: 12 pears 1 c. sugar ½ c. honey 1 vanilla sugar 1 lemon, squeezed 20 oz. cranberries 3 apple-cranberry tea bags

DIRECTIONS: 1. In a saucepan, line peeled pears upright, tightly packed. Add enough water to cover. 2. Add the rest of the ingredients except for the tea bags. Boil. Reduce heat and let cook 45 minutes. 3. Shut the flame and add tea bag for 5 minutes. Remove, cool and refrigerate. 4. Serve with sauce and cranberries. Freezes well.

Seasoned Chef: The liquid makes for a delicious drink, served warm or chilled.
