70% vote for new roster at OD WRITTEN BY PATRICK GLOVER

T

he introduction of a week on, week off roster at BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam mine site will move into the consultation stage after receiving 70 per cent of employee votes in a recent poll.

The anonymous phone poll saw 85 per cent of affected employees casting a vote before it closed last week. BHP Billiton Olympic Dam’s Chad Menzies said the company would now commence a formal consultation process and have one-on-one communications with those employees who may be affected by the proposed roster change.

Mr Menzies said BHP Billiton would continue to keep local community representatives informed as its investigations progressed. “We continue to work with local community representatives to discuss potential impacts and identify opportunities to ensure Roxby Downs remains a location of choice,” he added.

R

oxby Downs woman Melissa Emery is calling on locals to support a national campaign for increased funding to reduce mobile ‘blackspots’.

The petition has been available from a number of local businesses since last week and has already attracted dozens of signatures. Mrs Emery’s friend – Katrina Marsh, of Kojonup, Western Australia – started the petition after her fiance died during a motorcycle accident. The accident occurred in a mobile blackspot, meaning emergency assistance was delayed for more than

20 minutes because phoning Triple Zero was impossible. “I had previously taken it for granted that ‘000’ was available throughout Australia with or without mobile coverage,” Ms Marsh said in a statement. “(However) if you are faced with a life-threatening emergency and are in a mobile phone blackspot area, you will not be able to obtain emergency assistance. “This could be the difference between life and death.” Mrs Emery said she was supporting the campaign because she was concerned about how these blackspots could affect her friends and family after hearing about Ms Marsh’s experience. “I was shocked, really, because my knowledge was that even if you’re out of range you could still call Tri-

ple Zero, and that’s not the case,” she said. “If there’s no service then there’s no service – nothing is going to work.” The Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Programme committed $100 million in the first round towards 499 new or upgraded mobile base stations across Australia by June 2016. It announced the locations to benefit from this round in June last year and is currently investigating sites for its second round of the program, to which the Government is contributing $60 million. Ms Marsh’s petition calls on the House of Representatives to approve further funding to address mobile phone blackspots and set a deadline by which all identified areas will receive coverage.

Mrs Emery encouraged all Roxby Downs residents to add their signatures towards the cause. “This actually affects everyone here because we’re all from somewhere else, and everyone’s towns and everyone’s cities have blackspots,” she said. “We just wanted to get it out there and give everyone the opportunity to have their name down and stand up for their communities.” Mrs Emery said locals driving between Roxby Downs and Adelaide were among those at risk of being disadvantaged by mobile blackspots in an emergency. “They would have to get to the next town or wait for someone to come along before they could get help,” she said. The petition has been provided to the Roxby Downs Police Station

and local businesses including Dunes Cafe, the Roxby Downs Visitor Information Centre, Roxby Traders Mitre 10, Smokemart, Black Stump Cafe and Takeaways, Woolworths, Roxby Bakery and The Monitor. Mrs Emery has also sent it to the Marree and William Creek hotels, Coober Pedy Police Station and The Pink Roadhouse at Oodnadatta. She will need to collect signatures by April 30 so that they can be sent to the Parliament of Australia via the Standing Committee on Petitions. SES appoints new Far North officer WRITTEN BY PATRICK GLOVER

N

ational Emergency Medal winner Paul Dickson moved to Roxby Downs to begin his role as State Emergency Service (SES) district officer two weeks ago.

He moved here from Newman, where he was an emergency manager for the local government, to take over the position from Craig Brassington. Having originally worked with the SES from 1995 to 2002 in Murray Bridge, he has since gained experience in a number of other emergency service roles. Mr Dickson said these have put him in good stead for working with the SES in a country region.

the Country Fire Service, SES and SA Ambulance Service – in Roxby Downs. Mr Dickson said having all emergency service organisations working, training and setting out p lans together would make the community a safer place. “Even if nothing happens, it is better to have plans in place,” he said. “You never know what might happen, so it is better to be ready and have a service like us when bad things happen.” Mr Dickson’s district officer position spans across the Far North region and covers towns from Roxby Downs and Andamooka to Coober Pedy and as far up as Mintabie. He is based at the Roxby Downs Police Station and can be contacted on 8671 4230.

“I left the SES back in 2002 with the view of building a skill base around emergency managing,” he said. “I now have experience in emergencies from cyclones and bushfires to floods and major accidents. “I have also seen how other emergency service organisations do things.” Prior to Mr Dickson’s role in Newman he worked in Melbourne for five years. He was part of the emergency response to the Black Friday bushfires of 2009 and received a National Emergency Medal for his involvement. Mr Dickson then moved on to Broome, where he worked closely with other emergency service groups. He said he was hoping to use this knowledge to form an even closer bond between all emergency response teams –

el O’Donnell recently moved to Roxby Downs to take up her first sergeant position after 18 years in the police force. Jason Starkey, Jaimie Lloyde and Julian Blackwell, who all

hold constable positions, join Ms O’Donnell as the new faces at Roxby Downs Police Station. Senior Sergeant Terr y Boylan told The Monitor he was pleased to see new additions to the local police force. “They will make a valuable contribution to the police de-

partment and the wider Roxby Downs community,” he said. Sergeant O’Donnell, whose previous position was at Port Adelaide, has been settling in well. She even participated in the Pink Stumps Day charity match within only a few days of arriving in town last month.

“It is a bit of a change, but I am looking forward to getting to know the town and doing things like joining the gym, playing darts and getting the golf clubs out for a bit of a hit,” she said. Sgt O’Donnell said was looking forward to getting to know the community, something she was unable to

do during her metropolitan postings. She said a brief stint at Roxby a number of years ago, along with postings at Whyalla and Ceduna, had helped prepare her for living in a remote location. “For the past four or five months I have been applying for a lot of different sergeant

spots,” she said. “Then I won this one, but it doesn’t bother me where I work.” Sgt O’Donnell has been posted to a number of different places throughout her 18-year career, including the Solomon Islands with the Australian Federal Police and five years at the Hindley Street Police Station in Adelaide.

wo Roxby Downs Blue Light committee members have been recognised for completing more than 100 hours of voluntary service to the group.

Libby Steer and Jo Gordon have completed 100 and 250 hours of volunteer work respectively across a number of Blue Light events, including discos for local children. They were presented with certificates at a committee meeting last Wednesday.

“We couldn’t hold the events we do without them,” said Blue Light committee president Kelly Wise. “They are a vital part in a community like Roxby Downs.” Mrs Wise said while the committee had dedicated members like Mrs Steer and Mrs Gordon, it was still in need of volunteers. She said anyone interested could sign up to join the group and would be able to choose which events they assisted with. The committee already has a jam-packed schedule planned for 2016. They kicked it off with a Blue Light Disco for students in

reception to year 6 last Friday. A senior disco is also in the works and might be tied in with the official opening of the new Community Youth Centre. Cinema nights and a Halloween party are also on the cards, while a trip to the Errappa outdoor adventure camp is already booked for this year. Mrs Wise was also pleased to announce that DJ Abbott had come on board as part of the committee and would be its official DJ at events. PAGE 8 Blue Light Disco photos

Roxby Council community projects officer Anni Walsh said less common objects found included a wooden chair, a door, a motorbike helmet and items of clothing. Ms Walsh said out of the 25 who attended, 13 were adults and 12 were children who were mainly members of the local Scouts group and Youth Advisory Committee.

“Well done to everyone involved – they really did a fantastic job,” Ms Walsh said. “Especially in the weather, seeing as it was hot.” Most local Clean Up Australia Day participants began picking up rubbish at 9am on the day, when the Bureau of Meteorology recorded temperatures of about 32C at Roxby Downs. The heat had intensified to 37C by 12 noon before reaching its maximum of 39.2C at 3.30pm.

Sam Fischer, Tegan Elms and Jessie Munro celebrated their graduation from the project on Tuesday, February 23. Also finishing up was supervisor Adrian Friedel, who will be moving back to Adelaide to study a Diploma of Education. Mr Friedel said he had enjoyed his time leading such a dedicated and hard-working team. “I have really enjoyed working with Arid Recovery to help them achieve their goals, including improving their knowledge of the local flora and fauna,” he said. “It has been a great experience to be working with this worldrenowned organisation. “And I have had an excellent team, with minimal complaining – even with some early starts.” The team has undertaken a number of different projects and tasks over the past six months – including repairing the Arid Recovery Reserve fences, helping with research and completing fauna surveys. Mr Friedel and his team also made a trip to Bon Bon Station, just south of Coober Pedy, to undertake work there. Sam Fischer said he had enjoyed his time with the Green Army and was now searching for more field work to undertake in a similar position. “The Green Army project has provided me with some knowledge I wouldn’t have gained anywhere else,” he said. “It has been really beneficial. “I have learned from so many different people in so many difwww.themonitor.com.au

“Adrian has been great in leading the group because he has exceptional skills and has helped out each day in the field.” Guy Nelson has been appointed as supervisor for the next Green Army project and will be arriving in Roxby Downs in the coming weeks. The appointment was announced by the Andamooka Progress and Opal Miners Association (APOMA) committee at a meeting on February 25. Ms Rowley has been a “half-time” resident of Andamooka for 11 years and said she was looking forward to settling down and promoting the town through her new role. “Although spending time working out on our opal mining claim, I now have time since retiring to dedicate to my passion of living and promoting the Andamooka lifestyle,” she said. “I am looking forward to working with the community and the APOMA committee as editor of our local newsletter. “The Andamooka Press has undergone various changes over its 44 years of publication but it has continued to be the sounding board and vital information source for residents of Andamooka. “It has also developed via the web into a valuable promotional tool for the township and its visitor attractions.” Ms Rowley said she was well qualified for the role and her skills, combined with her passion for the town, made her an ideal candidate for the role. In light of the Andamooka’s challenging economic climate, she said there would be a few variations in the newsletter. “A new integrated approach will serve to maintain up to date, clear and transparent communications to all members of the community,” she said. “Firstly and most importantly, the changes will ensure that the needs of the community are met in a more inclusive manner. “Secondly, and vitally, this media mix will more

he Andamooka Yacht Club reopened its doors on Saturday after owners Matilda Moylan-Blaikie and Kurt Jury returned from their summer break recently. The pair visited their hometown of Newcastle, New South Wales, before taking the scenic route back to Andamooka over the past couple of weeks. “Taking a couple of weeks to travel back from Newcastle to Andamooka meant we got to travel to lots of small towns, which was an awesome experience,” said Ms Moylan-Blaikie.

“Outback Australia has such unique beauty. “We got to know South Australia better and realised that there are all these amazing small producers and farms that use their produce to make their own products which more often than not are preservative free. “This year we want to focus on tapping into the culinary talents of South Australia by bringing in jams, chutneys and other items direct from the farms.” Having been introduced to the Totally Locally campaign last year, the pair will be looking to take on board the ‘shop local’ message in 2016. “It’s a great message to send, and also an awesome way to get

I

t’s sad to see that in this day and age, gender parity is still far from a reality in many parts of the world.

I’ve always felt strongly that the best places to work are those that foster an inclusive culture — one where differences are celebrated and our people can be themselves and feel at home. Here at Virgin, we recognise that a culture that brings together the right group of people who mirror the wonderful diversity of our world and who can promote diversity of thought is good for business. It’s a huge opportunity, not a challenge, and it’s great for the communities that we serve. We have the desire to make a positive difference to people’s

lives through changing business for good, so we create an environment where all people can thrive — because of who they are, not in spite of it. That’s why, on International Women’s Day, I support the Pledge for Parity. It’s an important reminder that all of us in business can and must do so much more to promote equality, respect and fairness. Richard Branson Virgin Group founder

C

ompanies that advance women into leadership roles are going to have the upper hand, with more engaged workforces, stronger cultures and improved economic performance.

We know TTERS that genderbalanced companies achieve to th better results. As business leaders we need to ask ourselves: Have we made enough progress? Are we helping enough women find their way into leadership roles in order to make our businesses better? Make the Pledge for Parity. For business, workplace equity is an imperative that no company can afford to neglect. And for all of us, it’s the right thing to do. Mark Weinberger EY global chairman and CEO

r edito e

However, one step forward doesn’t mean we’ve made it. It simply means we’re heading in the right direction. Women today continue to face barriers to success, and these barriers are more often the result of unconscious biases than overt sexism — even from those who believe in gender parity. In order to create a world where there’s equality in all sectors, we must fundamentally understand that strength as a team or company lies not in one’s similarities, but in leveraging differences in others. At Catalyst, we know that it will

take a significant movement to create this ‘new’ world of parity. That’s why we are working hard to use our years of research and consulting expertise to create actionable knowledge and tested solutions that help to accelerate progress for women through workplace inclusion. We believe that in order to create inclusive workplaces, organisations must encourage individuals across all levels to become inclusive leaders who understand and leverage the differences that exist on their teams and increase innovation in the process. I, along with the Catalyst team, pledge to be a champion of gender parity within my organisation and in the wider world. Deborah Gillis Catalyst president and CEO

Roxby Council Transfer station completed

C

onstruction of a Waste Transfer Station at Roxby Council’s Opal Road landfill site has been completed and is now in operation.

The Opal Road Landfill, commonly known as ‘the dump’, was closed in midJune last year after the site neared its capacity under Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) guidelines. The new Waste Transfer Station heralds an innovative era of waste management for Roxby Council, and is being used by contractor BSH Waste Solutions to safely and efficiently store and prepare Roxby’s general and recyclable waste for transport to Adelaide. On average, between 14 to 15 tonnes of general rubbish are collected each week in Roxby. While residents would notice no change to their weekly (red), fortnightly (yellow) and monthly (green) bin collection, the new transfer station means significant changes to the way our township’s waste is handled. After doing its usual rounds of Roxby streets and once full with either general or recyclables, the garbage truck travels out to the Opal Road site. The former landfill has been sealed off

with a sand ‘cap’, on top of which Roxby’s green organic waste is currently being deposited to help stabilise the cap and encourage vegetation to eventually grow. Constructed on top of the former landfill, the new Waste Transfer Station features a large shed – for protection from the elements and to stop rubbish blowing around – as well as a two-tiered waste handling area. The garbage truck drives up on to the top level of the station, reverses up to a ledge and deposits the load of rubbish straight into a skip waiting below. Once full, the skip is lifted onto a semi-trailer and is sent to Adelaide, where general waste is disposed and recyclables are sorted and processed. “We are really happy with the new Waste Transfer Station,” said Community Projects Officer (Environment) Anni Walsh. “From a design perspective it is innovative in that the two-tiered approach removes the need for double handling seen at other sites where the waste is deposited by truck onto the floor of the station, then collected and loaded into skips or bins before being taken away.

“We have completely removed that middle step, which is a cost efficiency as well as reducing manual handling issues. “Secondly, from an environmental perspective, we have completely changed the way we handle the waste, which removes the opportunity for it to blow around and create litter or be picked up by crows and other wildlife. “Of course, we are conscious that Roxby’s general waste is still ultimately ending up in landfill – albeit 600km away – so it is still as important as ever that we maximise recycling and green waste disposal opportunities.” Council is currently planning an information/open day for May or June this year to enable the community to visit the Opal Road site and learn more about our new waste transfer process. Details will be confirmed closer to the date. Residents can still dispose of waste unsuitable for the red, green or yellow regular bin collection themselves at BSH Waste Solutions’ Gosse Street centre, which is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, 8am to 12 noon on Saturdays and 1pm to 5pm on Sundays.

American Sniper is the next Big Library Read!

T

he votes have been tallied and the overwhelming winner for the next Big Library Read is American Sniper, the New York Times number one bestselling autobiography by Chris Kyle – and local readers can join the fun!

The Big Library Read is a global initiative where people read the same e-book and form part of a massive worldwide book club. From March 17-31, millions of readers from around the world can join by borrowing American Sniper from their library’s OverDrive website without any wait list or holds. American Sniper tells the true story of the most lethal sniper in US history as Chris Kyle recounts his time spent serving in the military overseas. It also includes sections written by his wife, Taya Kyle, sharing her experiences back home as her husband served multiple tours of duty in the Middle East. The Big Library Read is available through participating libraries (including the roxbylink library) and is free – all you need is a library card to get started. To download your e-book, you’ll need to download the free OverDrive application (via the app store). Once you’ve selected your library, entered your library card and PIN number and American Sniper will show on the front page – because it’s part of the Big Library Read, there is no limit on how many people can read it at once. A load of rubbish is deposited into a waiting skip at the new Waste Transfer Station.

Autumn jobs in the garden

I

t may be hard to believe, but autumn has arrived.

Yes, the weather is still warm, but autumn is the perfect time to enjoy the garden. There are many jobs to do in the garden after a long and hot Roxby Downs summer. Be it pulling weeds, mulching beds, pruning shrubs or planting new plants, autumn is a great time to tend to your patch. Roxby Downs Community Garden volunteers will be getting grubby during autumn to spruce things up and give our next crops the best opportunity. The Community Garden committee has compiled a list of tips to encourage you to get you outside and give your garden some love. • Try cabbage, Asian greens, lettuce, rocket, spring onions, spinach, carrots and pumpkins. They don’t mind the warmer weather and will give you lots of tasty treats to cook in the kitchen. • Parsley, basil, coriander, rosemary, and thyme are great herbs to try. Mint also grows really well, but be careful to contain it as mint can take over! • Top up mulch on your veggie patches, herb gardens and ornamental beds. This is especially important for weed suppression. Mulch after watering to a depth of about 7cm and keep mulch clear of plant stems, especially young seedlings. • This time of year is great to feed plants, and a seaweed tea or low environmental impact liquid fertiliser is perfect, especially for seedlings. Apply to the soil early in the morning, and in the concentrations mentioned on the product packaging. • Weeding is great to cut down competition and tidy up your patch. • Water smarter with a deep water first

What’s happening at RDAS? New school leaders R meet up at summit

Inductions held at assembly

oxby Downs Area School (RDAS) held a reception to year 12 leaders induction assembly on Monday, February 29.

The day recognised the students who have been elected as house captains and vice captains (32 in total) for this year’s sporting events, along with the student leaders for 2016. The sports leaders are nominated and elected by their peers. Student leaders were selected on the basis of a written application and

tudent leaders and teachers from Roxby Downs Area School (RDAS), St Barbara’s Parish School, Woomera Area School and Andamooka Primary School gathered for a leaders summit recently.

The event, which was an RDAS initiative, was held at the Roxby Downs Bowling Club on Monday, February 22. With the help of the local Mining Minds program, the gathering aimed to build the leadership skills of those in attendance. “We usually do a camp down in Adelaide, so this is something different for us,” said RDAS student counsellor Beth Elliott. “All the kids got a lot out of it, though. You could see the change in them at the end of the day.” The day began with a team building exercise and games to help attendees get to know one another. Anthony Semann from Semann and Slattery addressed the students, who then discussed their thoughts on the Mining Minds program and set goals for themselves and their schools. Mrs Elliott said the students would be looking to implement what they had learned at the summit at school. Another session is set to be held next term to gauge what progress has been made. “It is great having Mining Minds on board to help

an interview before a panel of senior staff from the various sections of the school. BHP Billiton’s Chad Menzies was the invited guest speaker. Mr Menzies encouraged the appointed leaders to work hard to make a difference. He asked alll students to support the leaders in their roles and said everyone needed to take responsibility for making RDAS the best school it could be. “We are really looking forward to the respective roles that our sport-

ing leaders and student leaders are going to play at RDAS in 2016,” said RDAS principal Steve Bennett. STUDENT LEADERS 2016

drive student leadership,” Mrs Elliott said. “It means the students’ voices are being heard and that it does create change.” The day also gave students the opportunity to meet new people as they were split into teams that consisted of a mix of leaders from other schools. Mrs Elliott said all teams worked well together, and friendships were formed between students from different schools. “It was really great,” she said. “We have had really good feedback from all the students and the teachers.” Mrs Elliot said the schools were already in talks with each other and the Mining Minds program to run the summit again next year.

Students take on school-based apprenticeships

A

concerted effort has seen eight RDAS students commence school-based apprenticeships (SBAs) at local businesses recently.

These include Baylie Dadleh (Rural Operations, Stuart’s Creek Station), Bethany Myatt (Hospitality, Roxby Downs Tavern/Oasis Restaurant), Kiaran Dadleh (Carpentry, Olympicon), Ines Badman (Community Service, Roxby

Council), Jordan Thompson (IT Systems, Roxby Council), Megan Herring (IT Systems, RDAS), Brodie Walsh (Media/Radio, RoxFM) and Jake Zeptner (Commercial Cookery, Roxby Downs Tavern). A further 11 students are studying a Certificate III in Fitness. “Being involved in an SBA allows a student to continue with their studies at school, while at the same time commencing

a certificate course in the workplace,” said RDAS principal Steve Bennett. “Many students get to an age where they struggle to see school as relevant, and so these types of programs can benefit the student significantly by re-engaging them with learning.” Mr Bennett thanked local businesses for providing work placements as part of the program.

Riders represent Roxby on EP

The 2016 motocross season is beginning to ramp up with an increased number of local junior riders taking part in races across the state. The Eyre Peninsula Motocross Series began recently and saw two Roxby Downs juniors and one senior rider place on the podium at the Port Lincoln meet. Bailey Anderson finished first in the seven to nine years 65cc category and placed second in the nine to 12 years 85cc event, which also saw Russell Feltus finish third. Zac Bradbery, the only senior rider competing from Roxby Downs, took out first place in the Senior Lites intermediate class. “It is really exciting to see these kids come through and now taking the next step and racing competitively,” said Roxby Desert Motocross Club president Clint GowSmith. “We have already seen two juniors and one senior rider compete in Port Lincoln with podium placings for all three riders. “This is a fantastic start for them individually and great exposure for our club.” Gow-Smith said off the track things were just as exciting, with some big plans for the club in 2016. As mentioned in last month’s column for The Monitor, the club is looking to sell donuts as an ongoing fundraiser. Gow-Smith encouraged locals to support the club’s donut stall when it appears at community events. Stubby coolers and fun race meets throughout the year are also on the agenda to help with fundraising before concluding the year with the annual Night Meet. “Our committee is reaching further and wider than years gone by, and already through the meetings we have had late in 2015 and early this year, there are some really exciting ideas coming through,” Gow-Smith said. “On top of all this, our club’s turning 21 this year, so the wheels are in motion to invite as many past and present members, sponsors and volunteers together for a really fun-filled night of reminiscing out at the club.” Gow-Smith said any new people to town interested in signing up for a membership should head to the Facebook page (‘Roxby Downs Motocross Club’) or contact him on 0437 546 758.

ornridge took on the Roxby Miners last Saturday night in what was a glimpse at the upcoming Roxby Districts Cricket Association preliminary final this weekend.

Hornridge went in full of confidence after winning against the previously undefeated OD the round before. The Miners won the toss and elected to bat first and, led by a half century from Paul Trotta, posted 8/147. Trotta was the pick of the batters with 58 while Josh Sheppard also chipped in with 36. Young quick Zac Bradbery was the pick of the Hornridge bowlers with four wickets. In reply Hornridge fell 63 runs short – all out for 84 – thanks to five wickets from Miners opening bowler Sean McIvor. Simon Rienstra was the only Hornridge batsman to make a sizable contribution with 41.

Olympic Dam d Andamooka

T

he Olympic Dam Cricket Club was back on the winners list last weekend with a victory over Andamooka on Friday night.

The Roos had nothing to lose as they are already out of contention for the finals, while the Devils were looking to get some form back before heading into the grand final on March 18. Andamooka won the toss and elected to bat first in warm conditions but got off to the worst possible start by losing opener Chamila Rathnajake in the first over – bowled by Patrick Glover. Jordan Mandemaker and Sachira Muthukumarana then steadied the ship, guiding their side to 1/37, before both fell in quick succession to Rein Geraghty to be 3/38. This brought Chris Patterson and Seb Griggs together, with the pair combing for a 62-run partnership and seeing their side beyond drinks. While Griggs was struggling to score, Patterson was hitting well to keep the scoreboard ticking over. However, the introduction of part-time spinner Tom Krieg proved to be a master stoke by captain Geraghty when Krieg claimed the important wicket of Patterson with his first ball.

He then proceeded to take a further four wickets with his spin, claiming figures of 5/15, to dismiss Andamooka for 132. Krieg’s five wickets made him the pick of the bowlers, while Glover and Geraghty chipped in with two wickets each. For Andamooka, Patterson was the top scorer with 46, while Mandemaker and team captain Troy Mulders contributed 25 and 22 not out respectively. In reply, OD’s innings began in similar fashion to that of its opposition by losing a wicket in the first over. From there, though, it was all OD with Glover and Seb Holbrook combining for a 117-run partnership to put their side in a commanding position. Both were eventually dismissed just short of the target, leaving Craig Nicholls and Michael Paul to guide the Devils past the score. Holbrook and Glover did a majority of the damage for the Devils, finishing with 56 and 46 respectively. Dylan Schipper was the only multiple wicket taker with two. This weekend will see a repeat of the Saturday night fixture with the Miners taking on Hornridge in the preliminary final for a spot in the grand final against Olympic Dam. Andamooka’s Seb Griggs leaves a ball during his innings on Friday night.

Hornridge’s Rhett Winter sends down another delivery against the Miners on Saturday night.
