Orange County Animal Services Overwhelmed with Homeless Dogs Orange County Animal Services which focuses on the health and wellbeing of the animals in Orange County resumed normal intake of stray dogs after a pause due to an outbreak of the canine pneumovirus. The virus is a contagious respiratory virus with symptoms including coughing, sneezing and nasal discharge and can progress to pneumonia and difficulty breathing. With intake returning to normal, the shelter is now overwhelmed with dogs. The shelter is now caring for more than 200+ dogs and asking for the community to step forward to adopt, foster or attempt to reunite found dogs with their owners before resorting to bringing them to the shelter. Adoption fees have been waived for dogs already spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, those are designated as “ready to go.” Residents intersted in adopting a dog can visit the shelter in-person. Adoption services are available without an appointment. For a list of current dogs available for adoption, visit http://www.orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/ Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx or scan the QR Code.
