THE HUMAN LEAGUE TO KICKSTART MUSIC LIVE AT DONCASTER RACECOURSE Doncaster Racecourse is gearing up to host Sheffield formed electronic new wave band The Human League, after an evening of racing, on Saturday 16 May. The trio, comprising vocalist and songwriter Philip Oakley, the only constant band member since 1977, and long-serving female vocalists Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley will take to the stage following a packed seven race card at the Town Moor venue, South Yorkshire’s premier racecourse. The three-piece band, which evolved into a hugely successful synthpop band throughout the 1980s, has racked up five albums and eight UK Top 10 singles, selling more than 20 million records in total in a career spanning five decades. They are set to perform a raft of hit singles from their back catalogue including Don’t You Want Me, Human and Together in Electric Dreams in front of racecourse crowds. Commenting on the news that Human League are set to kick off the Music Live series at Doncaster Racecourse on May 16, Kieron Gallagher, executive director, said: “The Human League was formed in Sheffield back in the late 70s so it is only fitting that they get the Music Live series underway here in South Yorkshire on 16 May. Hit singles like Don’t You Want Me and Together in Electric Dreams have

stood the test of time and I am sure that they will get the crowds singing along as they soak up the atmosphere late into the evening here at Town Moor. “We have a fantastic line up of musical entertainment to compliment the top sporting action over the summer months with Madness, UB40 and DJs Jo Whiley and Vernon Kay all set to entertain the crowds. We have one remaining act to announce imminently who I’m sure won’t disappoint.” As part of the Music Live series Doncaster Racecourse is also set to play host to Madness on Saturday 27 June with another big name act soon to be announced for Saturday 15 August. The venue will also welcome UB40 who will perform after racing on Ladbrokes Derby Day on Saturday 06 June and it has recently announced its first DJ Live event featuring Jo Whiley and Vernon Kay on Saturday 01 August. Tickets for their summer evening of racing and The Human League live performance are now on sale priced from £33 per person for the Grandstand Enclosure (when booked online). The first race gets underway at 5.30pm and the last at 8.30pm with the live music performance following afterwards. I don’t think my goldfish wanted his tank cleaning yesterday. He threw a right tantrum on the draining board while I was doing it and now he’s just sulking on top of his water. I’ve got an inferiority complex, but it’s not a very good one. Have YOU had to walk 500 miles? Were you advised to walk 500 more? You could be entitled to compensation. Call the Pro Claimers NOW.

“This house,” said the estate agent, “has both its good points and its bad points. “The disadvantages are that there is a chemical plant one street south and a slaughterhouse a street north.” “What are the advantages?” inquired the prospective buyer. “The advantage is that you can always tell which way the wind is blowing.”

Won’t even look at a cow.” “Take him to the vet,” his friend suggested. The next week, John is much happier. “The vet gave him some pills, and the bull serviced all of my cows!” he told his pal. “Then he broke through the fence and bred with all my neighbor’s cows! He’s like a machine!” “What kind of pills were they?” asked the friend. “I don’t know, but they’ve got a peppermint taste.” A weeping woman bursts into her hypnotherapist’s office and declares, “Doctor, I have been faithful to my husband for 15 years, but yesterday I broke that trust and had an affair! The guilt is killing me. I just want to forget that it ever happened!” The hypnotherapist shakes his head. “Not again …”
