Has your community group ever wanted to do some cooking but not had all the equipment? The wonderful cooks at Travelling Kitchen have created six community cooking kits with a hob, pots, pans and utensils which you can borrow.
These will be demonstrated at the Fesval on the 13th August and launched for use in the Autumn.

You may remember our last community door knock in 2021 when we gathered your thoughts about living in Southmead and what residents needed.
We will be doing another in September so we can understand what’s on everyone’s mind.
What good things are happening in the community? What are people keen to take acon about? How are people managing the cost of living crisis?
Look out for us on the 1st or 5th of September. If you miss us don’t worry, there will be other ways to have your say online or by popping in to the Greenway Centre or giving us a call.
On the next page is a poster to put in your window for the Southmead Fesval, to let everyone know the date. Let us know when yours is up and we’ll enter you for a prize draw on the day! You never know, it could be you! N B C T
Did you know that as well as managing the Community Development team at Southmead Development Trust my remit is to work across the North of the City with people who are over 50? I have discovered so many brilliant people and acvies since I have been in post, here’s just a few . . .

I have had the privilege of helping out at the first ever Sea Mills repair Café and I am so impressed by the skill and commitment of the volunteer repairers and organisers, and the general brilliance of the Seamills community. The second and third sessions were even beer with two people doing bikes and even more cake on offer! It’s normally on the second weekend of the month at the Methodist Hall, although this may be subject to change over the summer.

There is a new low cost/free Nordic walking group starng in Blaise. The organisers are really keen to bring Nordic walking to people who might not think of trying it normally. Please get in touch with me if you are interested.

I went to along to put up some posters and let people know who I was, and I managed to buy a couple of birthday presents at the same me! It’s worth going even just for the delicious cake, but you will probably leave with a present for someone. This takes place on the first Thursday of the month.
