Qualit y Control & Assessment Process QUALIT Y CONTROL In line with its gradual development of stand-alone sites for study abroad programs, CEA has been actively expanding its internal academic staff, structures, and controls. This process is guided by CEA’s Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Geoffrey Bannister. The Quality Control and Assessment Process Program’s two principal elements are as follows: • CEA’s Quality Assessment Council - the internal control system of CEA • Control systems of the University of New Haven (UNH), the official University of Record for the CEA GlobalCampus Network

ASSESSMENT PROCESS CEA has a hierarchy of positions to oversee the academic operations of the CEA GlobalCampus Network and other sites. The academic structure and general qualifications of the academic managers have been approved by UNH in a process designed to replicate a traditional university’s structure.

“CEA’s organizational strengths, marketing capacities and student responsiveness provide a good complement to the academic strengths of UNH. We are especially excited about the future for the CEA GlobalCampus Network, where our active partnership is focused.” Dr. Steven Kaplan President of the University of New Haven

In addition to these academic appointments, CEA’s Assessment Council is made up of experienced study abroad professionals who are responsible for overseeing CEA’s participation in self-assessment. Council members are also involved in site visits overseas to assess program quality. CEA’s Assessment Council is chaired by Dr. Angi Yucas, Study Abroad Director at the University of Pittsburgh. CEA regularly conducts assessments of its programs and is nationally respected for its intense attention to customer service. Student course evaluations are compiled and used regularly. All courses designed for the CEA GlobalCampus Network have specific learning objectives as well as assessment systems to match those objectives.

ASSESSMENT BY UNH UNH sets the principal academic policies for CEA programs and oversees all faculty appointments, curricula, and academic matters. Site visits by UNH faculty and administration are scheduled regularly. The frequent reviews conducted by CEA’s Quality Assessment Council are available to UNH as a means to ensure that the programs meet UNH’s high standards.
