The Mamaroneck High School Class of 2016 prepares to throw their caps in celebration.
The Mamaroneck High School Class of 2016 took their last walk onto the field as students on Wednesday, June 22 as they proceeded to their graduation ceremony. Led by color guards Lauren Chapey and Megan Mullaney, the students settled into their seats to the tune of senior singers’ rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
Principal Elizabeth Clain opened the event, providing graduates and guests with remarks of encouragement and congratulations. Her words were followed by a series of speeches and dedications from students, faculty members and community leaders, including valedictorian Steven Rome, salutatorian Olivia Pollack and Schools Superintendent Dr.
Robert Shaps. Once all congratulatory remarks had been made, students lined up to receive their diplomas, and eagerly waited to throw their caps in the air in celebration. The sea of students was all smiles once Clain declared that these Tigers had earned their stripes. -Reporting by Suzy Berkowitz
