X-Press Basketball League is now taking TRY-OUT registration forms. Try-outs will be Oct. 19, 20, 21. You need to attend at least one try-out date. For try-out form call Darrin at the YMCA 662-1203 and he can email you one. It is FREE to try-out for the league.

Oct. 30 YMCA Basketball 3yo - 6th Grade The YMCA of Hutchinson is enrolling 3 year old to 6th grade (boys and girls). All teams will play games on Saturdays starting Dec. 5. Contact the YMCA at 662-1203.

Nov. 13 HutchRec Lil’ Dribblers Basketball - Co-Rec Lil’ Dribblers is an instructional program for girls and boys who are in preschool (4-5 yr olds) and in kindergarten (5-6 yr olds). YMCA gymnastics competes at Nationals The Hutchinson YMCA Gymnastics Team had 29 girls participate in the National YMCA meet in Wichita, Kansas at Century II on June 25-27, 2015. There were 90 teams from across the U.S. in the National

YMCA meet with over 1200 gymnasts competing. We had three gymnasts competing at the Platinum Level, Sarah Schwartz, Hailee Brigman-Reed and Shayla Johnson. Sarah received 5th place All Around. Hailee was

6th All Around. Shayla tied for 5th on Balance Beam. We had one gymnast compete as a Level 5, Kaylea Adcock. Kaylea placed 3rd on Balance Beam. The Level 4 gymnasts were Asha Kelley, Ashley Leiker, Alison Willm and Elise Gover. Asha placed 2nd on Uneven Bars, 3rd on Beam and 3rd place All Around. Ashley placed 3rd on Floor and 6th All Around. Alison placed 1st on Floor and 7th All Around. Elise was 7th on Balance Beam. For many boys in the Hutchinson area, seeing homegrown talent such as Ben Heeney and Geno Grissom play on Sundays in the NFL gives them a goal to work hard and maybe someday, that could be them. For four Hutchinson YMCA Gladiator Football teams, they got to live the dream; WR SOD\ IRRWEDOO RQ DQ 1)/ ÂżHOG RQ D 6XQGD\ $QG QRW MXVW DQ\ ÂżHOG WKH ZRUOG famous “House that Jerry Builtâ€?, AT&T Stadium: Home of the Dallas Cowboys. The Red Zone Games took place on Sept. 20 in Arlington, TX, under the roof and bright lights of AT&T Stadium. Teams from Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas com-

peted in 2 timed scrimmages. As a collective group, Hutchinson showed that Kansas boys know how to play some football, winning most of the scrimmages and standing toe to toe against teams from Texas and Oklahoma. The teams representing were the 6th Grade Hutchinson Blue Hawks, the 5th Grade Hutchinson Blue Lightning, the 5th Grade Hutchinson Jets, and the 4th Grade Hutchinson Junior Salthawks. “We enjoyed it 100%. always remember it.� When asked how he thought our teams stacked up to the talents of Texas and Oklahoma, Chapman stated, “We can’t put in the (practice) hours that they can, but we have talent.� Blue Lightning Head Coach Ryan Heneha said, “It was an awesome experience. Our team has never played that fast before. I was like, what team am I watching. (The Blue Lightning) were in awe, but came to play. They stepped up and played and it didn’t matter where the other team was from.� Heneha went on to say that it was an unbelievable experience to build off of. “We grew as a team and as a family.�

All teams and families got to tour the facilities. “I’m not a Dallas Cowboys fan, but that is a really nice venue,â€? said Hutchinson Jets Head Coach Jarod Wannamaker. “Jerry GHÂżQLWHO\ EXLOW D YHU\ FRRO VWDGLXP :H were just excited to have the opportunity to play where NFL teams get to play, National Championships are decided. Unbelievable.â€? The Junior Salthawks Head Coach Adam Krol felt a bit jealous of his team. “I’m 37 years old and I never got to play D JDPH RU VFULPPDJH RQ D 1)/ ÂżHOG VR IRU those little guys, it’s quite an experience.â€? Krol added, “Being a coach, watching those little guys from the sideline, was pretty awesome.

JoLea Wheeler earned her Brown Belt on September 12 at the American Karate and Martial Sciences Academy under the tutelage of Thomas Williams. Her belt test took 6 1/2 hours to complete.

On July 25, 2015, the trio of Haley Stucky and mother/daughter combo of Hannah and Amber Graber participated at the Ken Clayborn Brotherhood Tournament in El Dorado. All three are from Pretty Prairie and studied Go Ju with the Hutchinson School of Karate under Sam and Jessica Price. Haley Stucky earned 2nd place in the Obstacle Course, 1st place in Individual Kata, and 1st place in Sparring. Haley
