In today’s society, television has been an essential component to living happily. Throughout time, becoming accustom with TV has been seen as a luxury. After long days individuals come home to relax in front of the screen with snacks. Some even plan their week around new episodes of favorite shows. Of course, too much TV can be detrimental but it can be a great outlet. We chose this topic to appeal to every person in the audience. We strive to cover as many shows as possible while giving readers facts. Even some of my favorites like
“Friends” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” which of course everyone should check out if they have not! We also tried to make this issue more upbeat and interactive for readers. Enjoy flipping through and make sure to share with your friends!

Some people watch shows just for the cheap thrills and easy laughs, but others, like critics, look for intellect. Not to say a majority of fan favorite shows are bad, but critics normally take the lesser known gem over the rating smash hit. Take “Arrested Development” for example. This is a show that was canceled for lack of ratings and while its fandom grew over time, leading to its Netflix reboot in 2013, what kept the show alive for its first three season were the critics. Critics loved the show for its smart humor and quick wit, unlike shows like “The Big Bang Theory” that rack up big ratings, but lack humor that goes above lame sex jokes and potty humor. Critics like a show that is smarter than the normal comedy. As they say, “The Big Bang Theory” is a stupid show about smart people, but “Arrested Development is a smart show about dumb people.

You’re probably a fan of at least a few shows. But are you a superfan? Or a fangirl? I know I am. My ultimate addiction is to the show “Supernatural.” What makes this long-lasting piece of genre fiction so addicting isn’t just the unearthly beauty of its stars or its amazing mullet rock soundtrack. “Supernatural” is all about mashing together bits of legends and horror movie classics. It delves into religion, the apocalypse and a complex monster versus human versus angel hierarchy. And it manages to do all that while developing a unique cast of characters and combining the best elements of comedy, horror, science fiction and drama. Fans love to explore all the possibilities of the show’s world, which includes a whole lot of playful meta content and, of course, a really pretty cast.

already had three children with their former spouse. Three girls and three boys join together to form “The Brady Bunch.” The characters live their lives and grow as the show progresses. They learn life lessons along the way. “The Brady Bunch” should also be considered a masterpiece. Each episode has it’s own unique plot line, and the viewer will stay interested no matter how long they watch. If it were not for these classic television shows, we would not have some of the humor and morals that we possess today. They teach us to be real, and that every person has their own flaws. These shows help us put the world into perspective, and should never stop being watched.

It showcases the daily problems and events that life throws at them, and with each episode comes something different and unique. It is, after all “A show about nothing!” “Seinfeld” should be considered one of the best shows of all time for its comedic and hilarious situations, which never fail to keep the audience smiling. “The Brady Bunch” is a classic. I have learned some of life’s most valuable lessons from watching. The show follows two parents who form a family. The catch is, each parent has

t has 57.4 million subscribers, and tallies over a billion hours of usage each month. It’s replacing the everyday TV and cable system in homes worldwide, and it only costs $8.99 a month. It’s Netflix. According to Netflix’s website there are eight main reasons why this app is going to overcome the old TV set. First, Internet is spreading and becoming faster. More and more homes and people are becoming familiar and accustomed to using Wi-Fi and technology. The second: smart TVs, devices that can have apps and Wi-Fi capabilities,

are becoming cheaper and more widely available. Also, as time goes on most TVs will have those features. Also, smart TV adapter’s prices and abilities just keep improving. Next, tablet and smartphone TV content viewing is increasing. All around, people are watching their favorite shows whenever and wherever they want because it is all on one device. People no longer have to be at home to watch their favorite characters live their lives. Also, Internet TV apps, such as Netflix, frequently get updates and

Likewise, another reason is that this type of video streaming is the leading source for ultra HD content, these apps provide very high quality and it shows. Being able to watch TV everywhere is the next economic step for existing networks. So it is not just about the viewer being able to have access at the touch of their finger, but the network owners and producers as well. Finally, new TV app producers are very creative,
however, there will always be some cons to online usage. Almost everyone has cable, and it has its pros too. Netflix does not have every show in the world, cable has the newest episodes, shows will not be removed from screening, and you can also watch whenever you want with DVR. However, as Netflix continues to pave the way for more advancements in Internet TV usage less and less people will use TVs and cable. Netflix is already being seen as the more practical and wallet friendly choice.

Effects used in TV Night Time
Blood In black and white TV shows and movies they used chocolate sauce for the blood.This was a cheap effective way to make scenes believably gory.
A dark cover could be used to simulate night-time while shooting in daytime. Unfortunately it does nothing to eliminate shadows caused by sunlight, leading to the slightly hilarious effect of having obvious sun-shadow at night.
Aliens In older Sci-fi movies when making aliens they wanted them not to look just like humans but still resemble them in some ways. A lot of times they would put a rubber forehead or ears on to change their appearance.
Back Lighting
Back-lighting is used for rain scenes. Without this effect the rain would not show up on the camera.

The Key to a Good
television show characters unique The most important part of a great TV show is the characters. Unique, in-depth, and relatable characters make or break a show, with the potential to give simplistic set-ups life or dragging down a great plot by making audiences simply not care. Plus, shows that rely on a repetitive case-of-theweek set up practically live and die on the quality of their characters. A prime example would be the wildly successful sitcom “Friends,” with an incredibly generic set-up but it is still loved over two decades after its initial release due to its quirky characters. On the other end of the spectrum, if viewers do not relate to the characters, then they ultimately have no reason to care about their problems, to cry at their troubles or cheer at their triumphs.
Today there is so much content, media, and entertainment constantly being produced. The ones that stick are the ones that are different or have something new and unexpected. For example, the premise of “Breaking Bad,” a chemistry teacher with a terminal disease turns to cooking meth, immediately grabs attention. The pitches of ‘[insert law enforcement] go after bad guys’ or ‘teens have relationship drama’ do not exactly have the same ring.
These may not be a requirement for quality TV shows, but they certainly help to make a successful TV show. Ending each episode with a dramatic revelation, a life-or-death situation, or a game-changing confrontation assures viewers will be back the next week, possibly promising themselves they will just be catching the first fifteen minutes. After all, how would one go on with their life without knowing what happens after their favorite character gets into a car accident? Cliffhangers also lend themselves to marathoning shows on Netflix, when ‘just a bit more’ leads to ‘where did the last six hours go’.
Snappy dialogue, interesting premises, and quality acting are great, but for viewers to become hooked, they need to get emotionally invested. This factor often appears in the form of relationships, underdog stories, and/or tragic destinies. All the other factors obviously lend to this, after all it is hard to cry for a character if the actor is a brick wall and the emotional beats do not even make sense. But at the end of the day, shows that can grab viewers by the ‘feels’ and toss them around like tennis balls are the ones that spawn fanfiction, OTPs, and die-hard fans.

Finally, this one might seem to be a given, but still utterly necessary. After all, a TV show is a story, and under certain circumstances, fans can excuse plot holes (particularly over multiple seasons) and the occasional out of character decision, but writing quality and consistency is always key. Comedies rely on humorous dialogue like dramas need compelling romances and procedurals need well-written story arcs. This is where being emotionally gripping can backfire, because if writers mess up beloved characters or story lines, the backlash will only be infinitely greater.

Netflix survey published December 2014 found that 61 percent of 1,500 online respondents say that they binge-watch TV regularly (which was defined as watching between two and six episodes of the same TV show in one sitting). It also was found that three out of four members who streamed the first season of “Breaking Bad” finished all seven episodes in one session. Five hours in front of the TV can wear you out and make you feel sluggish because lounging slows blood circulation and your metabolism. Although some shows may leave you sluggish, if you are watching a complex show it can be stimulating cognitively and emotionally. TV can make you feel good, or bad after watching, and there is a good reason for that. If something positive happens in a show the excitement from the show can carry over into your real life and make the experience all the more intense. Cliffhangers can also leave us in a heightened state of arousal and excitement. Although many shows can make your mood lighter, or can make you feel excited, other shows on television can also leave you in a state of sadness or despair. Many sitcoms do not have cliffhangers and just end. Your emotional state at the end of a show is also affected by how you felt when you were watching. TV is also used as an escape as a means for viewers to forget their anxieties by watching television and yet they may have an increased risk of having insomnia, especially if the show ends in a conflict or has an unresolved conflict. Not only does watching TV affect your body, it also affects your brain. MRI brain scans showed children who spent the most hours in front of the box had greater amounts of grey matter in regions around the frontopolar cortex - the area at the front of the frontal lobe. hy do we spend so much time with our television family? Why are there so many opportunities for new shows and continuation of fan
favorites? We spend so much time because we identify with the shows we watch. We like to watch others go through the same things we go through, from our first kiss to dealing with loss of a family member.
Television normalizes our everyday activities and actions. It makes us feel sounder in our decisions and might even help us decide right from wrong. We adopt the ability to learn from other’s mistakes. TV shows allow us to enter a world that is different from our own. Shows like Gossip Girl help us enter the world of New York’s most upper class and CSI creates an atmosphere of drama missing from our daily lives.
