Nine years after they first said “hi” in their high school hallway, Zach planned a proposal during an architecture fair in college. “Imagine my surprise to see him standing in the bushes outside,” Nicole says. She dropped her bags and ran over to meet him. Zach then took her hands, dropped to a knee and whispered, “I have loved you for seven years, and I want to love you for 70 more.” Nicole dropped to her knees, exclaiming, “yes!” “Only then did I realize we were surrounded by our closest friends,” she says. After four and a half years of longdistance dating, Alex decided to make the relationship official with a ring. When Caroline arrived in Toronto from Florida, the couple headed to the scenic CN Tower, where Alex had taken Caroline on her first trip to the city. “I had no idea it was going to happen then and there,” Caroline says of Alex popping the question. “The tears starting coming and I said ‘yes.’ ” But that wasn’t the last surprise.
