you’ll need music even before you start your walk down the aisle

choosing your first-dance song seems like the most epic decision ever

This is easy to forget. Your bridal party has compiled a playlist of getting-ready music no doubt, so do your part and remember the guests who will be awaiting your grand entrance. Same goes for cocktail hour, when you may be off having your pictures taken. At a celebration, silence is never golden.

Choosing your first dance song is a big deal. You want something that will perfectly reflect you as a couple. Sounds tough, right? Try out a few different options and settle on one that resonates with both of you. Or if you really can’t seem to compromise, have your DJ or band create a custom mash-up of your two favorite tunes.

not all sound systems are created equal

you’ll feel like your first dance should be over one minute in

Your venue may have a sound system or speakers on hand, and while that’s great news, you should do yourself a favor and test them out (or better yet, have your band or DJ do a sound check). You want to make sure you aren’t looking for something with more oomph (or amp). Check out the equipment when there’s still time to rent additional pieces, just in case.

You may have fallen in love to “Free Bird” but a nine-minute ballad is going to be painful to dance to, just the two of you. One minute is like an eternity when it comes to the first dance, so choose a song that clocks in at under four minutes. If you have your heart set on something longer, look into having it cut. You’ll thank us later. >>
