Don’t worry, your first task is a fun one: Envision your wedding— think about the style you want and color palettes you love. Nail down a budget. When and where would you like to say “I do”? Not sure where to start? The Knot Venue Concierge can give you personal recommendations based on a few details (see Wedding Planning Tools, p. 70). Hire any pros you just have to have, like musicians or wedding planner. Start searching for the wedding dress. Get the ring appraised and then insured ASAP.
Find a stationer and order your save-the-dates. This is really happening! Propose to your wedding party. Create your website with The Knot. Guests can also access it on the Guest List app (see Wedding Planning Tools, p. 70). Book your photographer, florist, caterer, cake baker and other important pros. Order the gown and veil. Schedule fittings for six weeks and one to two weeks before the wedding. Choose and order the bridesmaid dresses. Start registering—a super-fun to-do.

Plan the ceremony with your officiant and discuss religious requirements such as premarital counseling. Book your honeymoon. Choose the formalwear. Send out your save-the-dates. Order the invitations and thank-you notes. Hire a day-of coordinator (if you don’t have a full-service planner or a day-of planner isn’t included with your venue). Schedule beauty trials and book hairstylists and makeup artists.
