hen Arsine Akopyan (an attorney) decided to attend a friend of a friend’s birthday party one night, she had no idea she would meet her future husband, Christian Grun (in marketing), there. For their wedding locale, the couple decided on Christian’s idyllic hometown in the German countryside, Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. “Planning my wedding abroad in a country with a nine-hour time difference and in a language I did not speak was definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done,” Arsine admits. But we’re so happy she did! With the help of their US-based planner, they put together a romantic, old-world-inspired affair with a soft color palette of blush and ivory accented with pops of green and gold. —MO

Following German tradition, family members from each side read psalms from the Bible. Arsine’s sister read one in English, while Christian’s mother and sister each read one in German.
