Celebrity News South Koreans protest over Lady Gaga Lady Gaga will launch her hotly anticipated "Born This Way Ball" world tour Friday on an elaborate castle-like stage. And fans in Asia will be the first to see it. But not everyone is looking forward to her performance. AFP reports that conservative Christians in South Korea have banded together, accusing the pop singer of advocating homosexuality and pornography. Nearly 300 Protestant church members met in Seoul Sunday to hold a group prayer
against Friday's concert. The concert in Seoul has been banned for anyone under 18, a rule imposed by the Korea Media Rating Board. In early March. Lady Gaga reacted to the ban, tweeting, "Although not affecting ticket sales in Seoul, parents should be given more credit to determine what's good for their children. I love my fans. Thank u to all the adults in Korea who are speaking out for underaged who want to come to the BTW Ball. Maybe the gov. will change their mind."
One Direction are afraid they have Chlamydia! Having a koala urinate on you isn't pleasant -- especially if it puts you at risk of getting chlamydia. That's the fear recently faced by Liam Payne and Harry Styles, members of the popular boy band One Direction. The band is currently touring Australia and New Zealand and, as part of their visit, Payne and Styles each cuddled with a 3year-old koala named Kat. But during the encounter, Kat answered nature's call and whizzed right on them, according to HeatWorld.com. That was bad enough, but the two teen idols, both 18, worried they saw their lives flashing before their eyes when they learned that 80 percent of koalas reportedly have chlamydia, a sexually transmitted disease whose effects include severe conjunctivitis (or "pink eye"), incontinence, prostatitis and kidney damage, according to AOL News. To say that Payne and Styles were shocked to find out that being soaked with koala urine put them at risk is an understatement. "I'm genuinely scared. This is worrying," Payne told the Sun. "I’d have never picked the thing up if I'd known." Although transmission from koalas to humans is unlikely, a minority of the creatures have a strain of chlamydia that can be passed to other species, The Frisky reported.
Actor, comedian, and ex-heroin addict Rus-
Brand appeared before a parliamentary Russell Brand talks sell committee in London last month and told that drug taking should not be apdrugs in Parliament MPs proached as a "criminal or judicial matter" and that decriminalizing drug use could be "useful" in some regards. Brand, 36, who recently divorced singer Katy Perry, wore a black hat, gold chains and crosses and a torn black vest top for his appearance before the committee. He called MPs "mate" and addressed them by their first names during a lively half-hour long hearing. Brand was asked about drug legalization, but demurred, saying he didn't think he was "particularly qualified" to make that judgment. He added, however "I'm not saying we should have a wacky free-for-all where everyone takes drugs, it didn't do me any good." The flamboyant entertainer appeared before the Home Affairs Committee, which is review-
ing British drug policy. The Tuesday hearing was the fourth in what the committee is calling "a comprehensive review" of the drug laws. The legal status of drugs didn't matter much to addicts, Brand said. "I'm not a legal expert. I'm saying that, to a drug addict, the legal aspect is irrelevant," "If you need to get drugs, you will. The criminal and legal status, I think, sends the wrong message. Being arrested isn't a lesson, it's just an administrative blip," he added. "For me what is more significant is the way we socially regard the condition of addiction," Brand said. "It is something I consider to be an illness, and therefore more of health matter than a criminal or judicial matter. It is more important that we regard people suffering from addiction with compassion and there is a pragmatic rather than a symbolic approach to treating it."
