An exploration of music, faith and friendship. Somewhere in middle England four unlikely teenagers are preparing for judgement day with ladders, Elvis and Forest Fruits squash – Stokely’s Annual Talent Competition is nigh. With a stage full of instruments and an eclectic mix of recorded music, Little Bulb Theatre capture the confusing, awkward and beautifully naïve time of adolescence. The time when the once simple beliefs you held dear need re-adjusting to face the complexities of adulthood. A bizarre and visually fantastical exploration of music, faith and friendship, from Total Theatre, Fringe First, Arches Brick (Crocosmia 2008) and Herald Angel Award Winners (Operation Greenfield 2010). Following last year’s sell out performance of Declarations, internationally renowned contemporary dance company Phoenix Dance Theatre return to The Junction with their latest diverse programme, Reflected. Marking three decades of outstanding dance by the company, the bill opens with Richard Wherlock’s stylish, sensual and vibrant Switch. Philip Taylor’s What It Is is a sultry, playful take on love and sexuality set to a mesmerising Amy Winehouse soundtrack. There is also a welcome return for audience favourite Pave Up Paradise, Ben Duke and Raquel Meseguer’s (Lost Dog) sexy but tongue in cheek retelling of the story of Adam and Eve. Completing the evening is Melt, by Phoenix Artistic Director Sharon Watson, featuring an innovative blend of aerial dance and contemporary choreography.

Funny, sad, moving and thought provoking, Smalls is an intimate performance that provides a gently challenging insight into the complex world of undergarments, so rarely discussed but so much part of our daily life. Audiences are invited under Jenny’s voluminous skirt – made entirely of bras and knickers – to discover its hidden gems and explore the taboos, myths and mysteries of our most private items of clothing in a multi-sensory experience which mixes sound installation with live performance. This brief experience may change the way you view your smalls forever! *due to a little nudity.

Void Story follows a beleaguered pair of protagonists on a rollercoaster ride through the decimated remains of contemporary culture. Forced Entertainment perform this bleak and comical modern fable as if it were a radio play, sitting at tables, turning the pages of the script, ‘doing’ the requisite voices and adding in sound effects. Simultaneously the stage is dominated by a series of projected images, a storyboard for an impossible movie-version of Tim Etchells’ unsettling text. Somewhere between the live dialogue, the recorded sound effects and the collaged images is where Void Story actually takes place. Void Story is a Forced Entertainment project made for SPILL Festival 2009 with support from Tanzquartier, Vienna and Tate Media.

Bryony Kimmings has always had a rocky relationship with alcohol. It seems intrinsically linked to her confidence as an artist as well as to blame for her most genius and most hideous creations. From the Total Theatre Award winning creator of Sex Idiot, comes a hilarious and moving new one-woman show investigating the historical links between artists and mind enhancing drugs. 2 parts song and dance routine, 1 part breakdown, with a twist of sobering reality for good measure, the show follows Bryony as she cracks open her own creative psyche with the help of a film-maker, team of scientists and an American IT expert. Created solely from material made during a 7 day experiment, in which Bryony was kept in various states of scientific drunkenness. Performed Sober. A Soho Theatre and The Junction co-production.

Following on from his recent visit with The Wonderful World of Hugh Hughes, emerging Welsh artist Hugh is still working on his new piece, Stories from an Invisible Town. An exploration of Hugh’s childhood in Llangefni, he’s currently investigating what and how he might share stories both online and live in front of an audience. Join Hugh as he continues to discover his own memories of the people, places and events of the Anglesey he grew up on. Research and development supported by The Junction. A vital and captivating interplay between dance, live and electronic music, interactive video and animation. This new commission manipulates time and memory by exploring what occurs in the world’s primordial past, physical present and its technological future. The Difference Engine creates a richly-layered imaginative environment accompanied by a specially commissioned score and using interactive technology as a unique storytelling tool. This is the second joint work from Ben Duke, Will Duke, Zöe Svendsen and Dario Palermo who made their highly acclaimed collaborative debut at the Venice Biennale in 2010 with Discombobulator. Co-commissioned by London’s Gate Theatre and Dance Umbrella in conjunction with Metis Arts, Lost Dog, Dario Palermo and Will Duke, with support from The Junction.

Fresh from presenting I Infinite at the British Council Edinburgh Showcase 2011, Tom Dale Company has been collaborating with visual artist Yannick Jacquet and audio artist Thomas Vaquié (AntiVJ) testing out ideas on its new piece of work Cabin Fever.
JAM is The Junction’s experimental scratch night and in many ways the core of our talent development programme.
A startlingly expressive piece of physical work based on a latent need to ‘let go’, Cabin Fever is a voyeuristic look at how we operate within our confined mental, physical and social realities. Lost in a world of their own, cabin fever engulfs our performers creating a hypnotic and exhilarating synergy between the choreographic and digitally animated worlds. Little Bulb Theatre create devised performances which explore and illuminate minute human details that, in a world so big, are easily swallowed up. A core element of this process is the creation of a unique world for each performance, a world with its own aesthetic and most importantly its own rules. It’s into this world that we can start placing objects and characters to see what works theatrically.
The princess of the autobiographical show takes you on a journey through her own devising techniques, using your own stories as fuel for killer work. From concept to costume, from the inevitable fretting to fully fledged pieces, it’s a whistle-stop tour.
Revealing the secrets behind improvisation and free play which underpin the creation and development of every Hoipolloi show, this Master Class allows you to enter their fantastical world.
Little Bulb will work with participants to explore their own created worlds and the many different approaches to fleshing them out. Bring along an object that you find intriguing in some way.
Bryony creates daring audio work, live performance, cabaret and installations for an excitable and fun loving audience. Always honest, always a little bit naughty and unexpected. Bryony’s work is a feast for the eyes, often involves audience participation and is not for the fainthearted... it’s FUN for the fearless!

Horse + Bamboo present a gorgeously rendered re-telling of the classic girl-and-the-wolf tale. Exquisite visuals blend with pantomime-style silliness, spooky moments and bakewell tarts to create an enchanting piece of theatre.
Everyone’s buying boring shoes from the evil businessman, Bunyan Sole-less. Time is running out for Elvis. With one piece of leather left and Bunyan’s factory growing, can anyone help him?
