Lisa Michele Reardon and Thornton Allen Horn III were united in marriage at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Palmetto Health Tuomey Chapel in Sumter. The bride is the daughter of the late Vivian Jane Menke of Sumter, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Perkins of Elgin, Illinois. She attends Central Carolina Technical College and expects to graduate in May 2017 with an associate degree in human services. She is employed by Palmetto Health Tuomey. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Jacqueline Horn and the late Thornton A. Horn Jr., and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. James H. Gordon and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thornton A. Horn Sr. He graduated from Tennessee Technical University with a bachelor of science degree and from The Citadel with a master of education. He is employed as a teacher at Ridge Christian Academy.

CAMPUS CORNER Sumter native named Dent Middle School principal Tamala Murrill Ashford, a Sumter High School graduate of 1994 and daughter of Jeff Murrill and Joann Phillips Murrill of Sumter, was named principal of Dent Middle School in Richland School District 2 ASHFORD on May 23. Ashford was the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Dent Middle School, where she began her teaching career in 1998. She has been with Richland School District 2 for 18 years and has served as a middle school teacher, a high school assistant administrator and assistant principal at Dent Middle School. Ashford has a bachelor of arts in biology education from South Carolina State University, a master of education in science and a master of education in educational leadership and administration from Southern Wesleyan University. She is in the process of completing a doctor of education in educational leadership and supervision from Nova Southeastern University. Ashford lives in Columbia with her husband of 15 years, Aaron, and their three children, Aaron Jr., Arrington and Aaden.

Dean College FRANKLIN, Massachusetts — Dean College has announced that Brittany Hardin from Manning has earned a place on the dean's list for the spring 2016 semester.
Coastal Carolina University CONWAY — Matthew Staley of Sumter is one of 19 students who recently returned from a Coastal Carolina University study abroad program to Arezzo, Italy. This past Maymester CCU offered nine study abroad programs that included Italy, China, Greece and others. Coastal also offers 18 exchange programs from different universities all over the world during the regular semesters. This was the third-annual Arezzo trip where students were able to reside and study at the Accademia dell'Arte in Arezzo. From Arezzo, students traveled to various Tuscan towns such as Assisi, Orvieto, Cortona, Florence, Siena and Rome.
