ABC airs vintage ‘Peanuts’ Valentine’s special BY KEVIN MCDONOUGH For what it’s worth, it’s both Friday the 13th and the night before Valentine’s Day. As with Thanksgiving, Halloween and occasionally Christmas, TV sitcoms tend to incorporate the holiday into their storylines, but there are only two network sitcoms (“Last Man Standing” and “Cristela”) left on Friday nights and they’ve been pre-empted tonight to air “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown” (8 p.m., ABC, TV-G), the 1975 special based on the characters created by the late Charles Schulz. It’s worth noting that today marks the 15th anniversary of the final original “Peanuts” Sunday strip: Feb. 13, 2000. “Peanuts” creator Charles Schulz died the day before it ran. A decade and a half later, viewers still tune into “Peanuts” television specials, particularly at Christmas and Halloween. Reprints of the strip continue to appear in nearly every daily and Sunday newspaper. Good grief, indeed! • The CW departs from its schedule for a contemporary romantic comedy, “Safety Not Guaranteed” (8 p.m.). Aubrey Plaza and Jake Johnson star in this deliberately goofy 2012 tale of young journalists investigating an eccentric inventor who has invited possible companions for a trip in his time machine. Plaza (“Parks and Recreation”), who has become the eye-rolling face of her generation, is perfectly cast in this wistful indie comedy, an effort that received generally supportive reviews when it was released. • Fans of Michael Connelly’s best-selling detective novels can stream 10 episodes of the new series “Bosch” (Amazon Prime), beginning today. Titus Welliver (“Sons of Anarchy”) stars as hard-driven Los Angeles homicide detective Harry Bosch, a brooding man, a troubled vet and the son of a prostitute whose killer has never been found. “Bosch” makes the most of its Los Angeles scenery, a jumble of million dollar views and urban squalor. There are cliche moments, such as when Harry takes a fetching new detective to the Musso & Frank Grill, one of the most well-known tourist bars in old Los Angles. The

Bosch’s run-ins with superiors, internal affairs, the press and zealous lawyers should not be unfamiliar to fans of “Law & Order,” “The Closer”

or “Major Crimes.” But it’s nice to see a detective whose remarkable skills stem from personal passion, intelligence and determination, rather than some superpower of deduction. • In other streaming news, the Shout! Factory, known for releasing DVDs of TV series and specials, has launched its own streaming service, featuring more than 30 installments
