Treating customers like family comes natural Macdylan Pest Control started in April 2017. For owners Caroline and Jake Goodrich, putting the customer first seemed like an obvious way to do business. “Our customers are our family, friends and neighbors,” Caroline said. “When we decided to open our own company we wanted to focus on building personal relationships.” Get to know the business that was voted Best Pest Control Company.
Q: How did the company get its name? The name Macdylan is a nod to our children. Our daughter, Mackenzie is 8, and our son, Dylan, is 5. They are proud of what we’re doing and they love to help out anyway they can. Q:
Q: Your motto is “Truly local. Truly dedicated.” How does this shape your day-to-day operations? Our family has strong ties to Beaufort — I’m a Beaufort native and Jake grew up here and returned after serving in the Marine Corps. We pride ourselves in providing top-level service and we promise complete satisfaction. Every time we’re called for routine service or Q:
an emergency, we make sure the customer understands the products we’re applying, and we verify there are no other issues. We will come back until the problem is solved and our customer is satisfied. Q: Remembering to schedule service can be a burden. Are you accommodating? We stay on top of scheduling so our customers don’t have to. Many large companies want you to schedule your appointment at least three months in advance. This isn’t convenient for modern day homeowners. We call our customers when services are due and book appointments convenient to their schedule. We also offer free estimates, so Q:
there’s no reason not to call and have us check it out. Q: What has your first year in business taught you? I think the most important lesson we learned is to come up with a plan and then be prepared to be flexible, and change it as many times necessary. We also learned we’re more persistent than we thought, which definitely helped us keep going even when things were tough. And we found out our community is supportive — we’ve had much more word-of-mouth business than we anticipated. Q:
