Teaching seniors how to deal with scams
Council Member Veronica Lurvey, state Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti, and state Attorney General Letitia James’ Ofce are presenting a “Don’t Fall For
Fraud” forum, a discussion on protecting seniors from scams.

The event will be held on Wednesday, June
14 at 1 p.m. at the Great Neck Senior Center at 80 Grace Ave. in Great Neck.
The forum will feature TJ Hatter from the New York State Attorney General’s ofce, who will discuss how to recognize and protect yourself from scams, as well as what to do if you fnd yourself a victim of fraud.
“We want to provide our senior residents with the knowledge and resources they need to keep themselves safe from scams,” said Lurvey. “We are proud to partner with Assemblywoman Gina Sillitti and the New York State Attorney General Letitia James’ Ofce to present this informative forum, and we hope residents will join us and be able to learn something new.”
“Most New Yorkers are familiar with the wide variety of scam calls and unsolicited emails that fll our inboxes, and sadly, our seniors are a frequent target of these despicable criminal enterprises,” said Sillitti. “Older adults lose billions of dollars to scammers each year and we must do our utmost to stop this criminal behavior. These information sessions will provide valuable information and resources for local seniors and help all of us keep our hardearned money where it belongs – in our pockets.”
