Energy conservation education at S’town Students in the Herricks school district’s Searingtown Elementary School learned important lessons about energy conservation during a presentation by the National Theatre for Children, sponsored by PSEG Long Island. The program featured a performance by cast members who taught students where energy and resources come from and ways to use them efficiently. Main character Nicky Neutron brought the students with him on a mission to stop energy from being wasted.

Together they learned about basic ways to conserve energy, such as turning appliances off when not using them, using compact fluorescent lightbulbs and keeping air conditioning at moderate levels. Prior to the show, Searingtown received teacher guides and student activity booklets to familiarize students with the topics and content.
