Floral Park hosts 2nd annual PALS dance Students in Sewanhaka Central High School District’s PALS (Promoting Academics Through Life Skills) program put on their dancing shoes when Floral Park Memorial High School hosted the district’s second annual PALS dance on April 29. According to Floral Park Memorial school psychologist Jennifer Rosenberg, the district runs PALS programs at Elmont Memorial High School, Floral Park Memorial High School and H. Frank Carey High School. She said the dance, which celebrated Autism Awareness Month, was organized as one of three districtwide activities to allow the students an opportunity to get together. “All of the students attend the summer program together in the same school building, so it’s great for them to be able to reconnect with each other throughout the year,” Rosenberg said. In addition to staff and PALS students, mainstream students who serve as buddies at each of the school’s programs attended the event, dancing and having fun with those in attendance.
