INTERIOR: FRENCH BEAUTY ACADEMY

First Class Education

The French Beauty Academy's new campus invites students to create their dream life.

In a quest to create cutting edge educational facilities unparalleled in the industry, The French Beauty Academy (TFBA) opened their 300 Adelaide Street Brisbane campus in July 2019 after outgrowing their first two campuses in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. Senator the Hon. Michaelia Cash, the Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business at the time and Edwina McCann (former Editor-in-Chief Vogue Australia) jointly performed the ribbon cutting ceremony for the opening of the space. “We worked with the team at Archway Brisbane from concept development through to completion.

They oversaw the build ensuring we were ready to open the doors in time for a mid-year intake,” says Taegan Reid, Brand Manager “We had a strong vision for the aesthetic of the campus and the feeling that we wanted the space to evoke. The interior design concept was led by our team internally as we wanted to pay respect to The French’s long brand heritage, while creating a space that was innately feminine. We wanted the campus to feel inspiring, uplifting and empowering to those that entered to truly feel comfortable in their skin.”

The team succeeded in creating a space so elegant, feminine, and modern that even visitors want to stay for a while. Hues of pink are contrasted by black velvet, and the pink terrazzo staircase leading up to the second floor, which opened a few months after the lower level, is a piece of art in itself.

According to Reid, ”the iconic light pink colour palette is loved by students and visitors. The ornate heritage finishes of ceiling roses, wainscoting, and chandelier lighting bring a sense of timelessness and glamour to the space. The unexpected details are what adds the wow. From the large pink staircase with pink terrazzo tiles to the floral wallpaper used on the roof to the petal pink kitchen – there is something to discover as you progress through each part of the space.”

When asked why the look of the campus is so important, Reid says, it’s all about preparing students for the future. “French students spend a large portion of their week and year on campus. Beauty Therapy, Makeup, Nail Technology etc are practical and hands-on professions so face to-face study is extremely important. When on campus we want students to feel at home and inspired all at once. Students are also entering a luxury service environment. We wanted the aesthetic and feeling of the space to be able to simulate a salon environment for their learning. The campus was designed to accelerate a student’s skills development by learning in a space that simulates real-life working environments.”

And it’s exactly this focus on the ‘real life’ that begins upon graduation that gives TFBA students an edge over many others. Earlier this year, the school partnered with the biggest names in skin and device technologies to co-develop an industry leading skin focused program titled ‘The Future of Beauty’. This Australian industry first bridges the gap between training and employment, ensuring French graduates are skilled for the beauty jobs of tomorrow. “We’re not happy arming students just with a qualification, we want to make sure they leave with their dream life, set up for success, and ahead of their competition. And it’s for that reason a French qualification holds the highest reputation in industry,” says Luke French, Managing Director.

TFBA offer quarterly intakes for their flagship Future Beauty Dual qualification (SHB50121 Diploma of Beauty and SHB50216 Diploma of Salon Management). Alongside the Future of Beauty Program, they offer a range of short courses across makeup, nail technology, lash, brow and tanning services and advanced laser courses with monthly intakes. The campus is a cutting edge, vibrant, feminine space where students can study all modalities in pursuing a career in the $4.2trillion dollar global beauty and dermal industries.
