Future

The world is just beginning to recognize the potential of technology to enable global common performance standards, especially in math, science and technology. This will eventually lead to a global educational network wherein the best teachers are connected to the most appropriate student.

Many countries have established national standards. In the U.S., the Common Core is a step toward this. In today’s mobile society, shouldn't a sixth-grader in Florida have the same math skills as a sixth-grader in Oregon?

The Tenth Amendment ensures education is controlled at the state and local levels. States have established learning standards deďŹ ned by grade level or clusters of grades. Curriculum and assessment systems are then organized around expectations in core subject areas.

Led by the curriculum and instruction sta, districts review the state standards and develop a more granular set of standards aligned to the state. Essential Learner Outcomes drive the curriculum design, along with assignment creation and assessments.

When teachers are assigned a section, the course standards are provided for them. They have the exibility to create their assignments and develop their own pedagogy, with the end result in mind.

Standards give a focus to student learning. Expectations of what is to be learned are clear and proďŹ ciency is easily determined.

Education buzz words today include “individualized education.â€? For InďŹ nite Campus, it’s our mission.

InďŹ nite Campus supports the common core standards, state standards and district standards.

InďŹ nite Campus allows state standards to be easily linked to courses.

InďŹ nite Campus has a standards bank with numerous subsets to define the most basic skill set and align it with appropriate courses.

InďŹ nite Campus allows the standards to be aligned to assignments and formative assessments to easily track progress and proficiency.

InďŹ nite Campus collects and analyzes data about each student and clusters groups of children to assure differentiated instruction. This results in better classroom management and personalized learning.

InďŹ nite Campus is developing tools to define even more granular standards and align them to personalized assignment and assessments. This will be tailored to resources and instruction that will result in the end goal: individualized education.

The Power of Integration

> Information is entered once and shared across the district in real time. The teacher’s roster displays pertinent student information including contact information and special concern flags. Campus Behavior Referral allows real-time entry and notification of students being referred to other staff members.

Communication Improves Involvement

> Grades and assignments are posted to the portal to increase parent and student involvement. Teachers create newsletters and emails. They have access to a letter designer and the phone dialer helps teachers, parents and students collaborate on classroom activities.

Classroom Efficiencies

> Scores entered in the grade book are automatically incorporated into the end-of-term grades. Teachers can request courses for next term based on student progress. Teachers can define student groups when creating an assignment and designate which group is required to complete that assignment.

Manage Instruction

> The Campus Assignment tool, in conjunction with the Campus Daily Planner, manages instruction for multiple sections. Campus Daily Planner makes it easy to view assignment due dates and student absences in calendar views.

Report and Analyze

> Good decisions are founded on accurate information and indepth analysis. Teachers have access to real-time data with built in reports and data analysis tools that provide the foundation for good classroom management.

Drivers are invited to be partners in entering and accessing student data and communicating this to the administration. This has helped to decrease inappropriate behavior and increase communication. And with several years of data available, when Norman considered opening a new elementary school and hired an outside company to help manage the logistics, Campus demographic data was instrumental in determining the appropriate boundaries. “We use Campus reports and analysis for everything from daily assessments of attendance to complex state and federal reports,â€? says Fisher. “But the more important focus of our analysis is making good decisions for our students.â€?

Hopkins Cafeteria Buzzes Check the Portal – Know Your Child A mom had checked the Campus Portal to see how her daughter was doing in choosing healthy food. She discovered her daughter, Ella, was taking twice the amount of food she would have expected. Mom knew Ella wasn’t THAT big of an eater. Mom questioned Ella and learned that she had a friend, Sasha, who could not aord lunch and was embarrassed to ask for help. Ella’s mom reported this to the district. Sta contacted Sasha’s family and arranged ďŹ nancial assistance for meals. Lunch selection returned to normal for both Ella and Sasha.
