Ilfracombe Town Youth Football Club is on the hunt for dedicated volunteers to help keep the successful organisation running. The club, which is separate to the town’s senior football team at Marlborough Park, works closely with the senior team to support grassroots football in Ilfracombe. Many of the under 16s home games are played at Marlborough park to prepare the players for adult football and many teams are mixed for both boys and girls. There are currently six different age groups in the youth club, all of which are run solely by volunteers and parents. Club chairman Charlotte Overney said: “We are very thankful as we have been lucky over the years to be sponsored for new kits by local businesses such as Jamie Brown Roofing, Coversure and the Lions and recently been supported by Tesco to purchase training equipment so we can provide the best training available to the children of Ilfracombe. To keep the club running next season we need motivated volunteers to come on board with the committee and development of future coaches to ensure we can keep all age groups coming through. The club will support the development of coaches and fund any training courses required to get the relevant FA qualification with the agreement that the coach will stay with the team through the year groups.” Anyone who is interested in joining the committee for 2022/23 season is asked to contact Charlotte Overney on ckoverney@gmail.com or 07968 098582 or Richard Hopson on richardho@ coversure.co.uk or 07812 027257.
